There is something seriously wrong with these people who knowingly do such terrible, irreversible damage to children and young people. It's psychotic and thoroughly evil.

I agree with this. How has this ideology taken hold ? It’s like the 1950s lobotomies.

healthybychristmas · 08/12/2024 22:58

Oh my God. That woman deserves to be locked up in prison.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/12/2024 23:20

Even though I've been reading about what these monstrous medics are doing to children for years, I'm still shocked when I read the details like this.
These people need to be locked up.

Firealarm1414 · 08/12/2024 23:46

I saw a clip on Twitter of this doctor bemoaning the fact that people get 'super worked up' about kids being sterilized which is a 'barrier that we need to overcome' and then goes on to state that mastectomies are very easy, fast and a critical procedure for minors. This woman is a monster

annejumps · 09/12/2024 00:22

Yes she's really something. Abigail Shrier quotes her as saying that she has no problem taking parents to court to force them to 'allow' their kids to medically 'transition' (quotes mine).

annejumps · 09/12/2024 00:23

I'd like to add that it's so frustrating trying to raise awareness of this that it's almost not worth bothering. I know so many people who have been SO convinced that these doctors are all heroes.

lonelywater · 09/12/2024 02:56

in light of the other thread hereabouts (would you kill?-answer, yes for anyone hurting my kids) im surprised this person has not encountered, er, difficulties-given that America is awash with guns.

fromorbit · 09/12/2024 04:52

The detrans cases are going to be arriving in court in the next few years in the US. Going to have huge impact via the publicity and also push the insurance companies to abandon cover. This will be one of the most prominent.

Follow the money.

How convenient for the therapist.

I'm not sure. I think from a legal perspective, if the claimant claims one thing and the therapist can only refute it based on memory, rather than notes, a judge is more likely to side with the claimant. So the only reason this would be convenient for the therapist is if the notes were so damning it would be worse than that. So I think it’s a case of lose-lose massively for the therapist.

I expect that you are right and also that it’s very convenient for the therapist

It’s such a shame that the statute of limitations isn’t longer for this kind of “treatment”, as it means you really do have to pursue litigation fairly quickly into adulthood if your “care” started so young. Absolutely awful. Wishing Clementine all the best, and if this stops gender care in its tracks it won’t be soon enough.

SabrinaThwaite · 09/12/2024 06:20

Olson-Kennedy is the ‘transyouth’ doctor who wouldn’t publish their research that found puberty blockers provide no benefits to patients mental health.

The leader of the long-running study said that the drugs did not improve mental health in children with gender distress and that the finding might be weaponized by opponents of the care.

This is why we fight, this is why we have lost friends, jobs and opportunities because children like this poor girl need us.

It is indeed a huge shame. There's a glimmer of hope on that point in the article from The Economist:

https://archive.ph/k0sBV

"Some state politicians have promised to change those restrictions."

I don't know which states they are but if Trump really wants to make a difference regarding this medical scandal, perhaps he'll do something at federal level 🤞 I realise that holding out hope for someone as unpredictable as Trump is clutching at straws, but you never know. If enough states make this change it might tip the scales.

Detransitioners' voices are going to get louder as their numbers inevitably continue to increase (😢). Logically, the impact of the current statutes of limitations will get in to the public discourse. All of this will obviously take time to work through, with more people continuing to be harmed in the meantime.

Well done Clementine for speaking up. I hope this story gets amplified in to mainstream media. Particularly given the person she's suing has had a US government grant for the puberty blocker trial she's refusing to publish. Putting Olsen Kennedy in the dock could be a significant tipping point, just as the UK is looking at puberty blocker clinical trials.

I guess the expectation is that once one of those in the USA wins, more will flood through. The four dads who have set up a specialised firm just for this purpose expect it to be busy.

Totally. That firm have 9 cases on started already. Looking for more.

As others have said this scandal has potential for huge medical pay outs. Given the slow speed in US legal system I think the initial wave is going to hit around 2025/6. Once the first win occurs lots more will start as you say. More publicity, more discussion.

Abhannmor · 09/12/2024 09:32

She complained about having to refer patients for psychiatric assessments , saying ' I wouldn't have to refer someone for psychiatric assessment if I was putting him on insulin.'
For God's sake how did she even qualify?

In a perfect world she could share a cell with Dr Sidhbh ' yeet the teets' Gallagher.

And Karen White.

It's all about inclusion. Othering Karen in this situation would clearly be misogyny.

One of the cases mentions Michelle Forcier. Was she of chicken fame?

Yes, that's her. Didn't she also say that sperm don't make you male (or similar) and that it's a 'constellation' - where have we heard that before?

DrBlackbird · 09/12/2024 20:53

Jesus. These poor poor kids to have such misfortune to come across ‘healthcare professionals’ like that when they’re at their lowest / most vulnerable. Yet the best case IMO is the one against the APA because this is the licensing body who needed to properly regulate.

duc748 · 09/12/2024 21:12

Just when you think you can't be shocked any more... Appalling treatment of a young girl. I agree these people literally need locking up.

PermanentTemporary · 09/12/2024 22:23

Rabbit hole... at the big EPATH conference in Bristol 5 years ago Dr Olsen-Kennedy said that 'very few people' [sic; she was referring to children] come to her clinic without depression or anxiety. She asserted that these conditions were not part of what caused dysphoria. Mermaids tweeted that comment at the time. And yet the puberty blockers study showed no improvement in MH because, she thought, 'they were all doing well at the time'. None of this makes any sense. It never did make any sense that stopping a child's normal development would do anything other than devastate their future. To be fair to her, she also said she didn't like having patients on blockers for longer than two years because of the awful side effects - she liked to get her patients settled onto cross sex hormones good and early.

BezMills · 10/12/2024 10:00

how is signing a healthy child up for a lifetime of disability and medical treatment going to make their mental health better? It's absolutely monstrous.
