Here you are

There is a linked video that I cannot capture in full but essentially she asked whether the minister agreed police policy allowing transwomen to perform intimate searches of women amounted to state sanctioned sexual assault. Minister replied to the effect that trans people had a right to exist and to hold positions of responsibility in society and he would defend that right; however if she had a specific example please write to him and he would look into it.

in other words, the Minister was not aware of the issue and had not considered the implication (but was on the front foot with being pro trans).

So a woman has to be sexually assaulted before he would look into it?

How many women does he think need to be sexually assaulted before it becomes a problem for him?

AlexandraLeaving · 26/11/2024 16:10

Sorry. Crappy cross post with more competent but irresponsible person.

Runor · 26/11/2024 16:10

Fucking Hell! So an ‘honourable’ Lord (presumably - not sure who the players are) is very happy to support transwomen police officers to conduct intimate searches of women.

As the questioner states, state sanctioned sexual abuse. There really is no other way to describe this

Runor · 26/11/2024 16:12

I’m not even sure he was saying it had to happen before he would look into it. I think he was saying TWAW, so nothing to see here

Well indeed….

I suspect he meant that he had no idea what she was talking about and didn’t want to busk it so wanted her to write in so he could given an informed answer. Which is slightly better than your interpretation but not massively so.

Bluefields96 · 26/11/2024 16:16

It might of course be useful for the BTP to have a trans woman officer who can be called upon to search a trans woman passenger should the need arise.

Obviously they should never be used to search a woman.

OuterSpaceCadet · 26/11/2024 16:19

As if a trans person couldn't hold an office of responsibility without violating other people's boundaries. What a dim and genuinely transphobic fuckwit that peer must be.

All these people who call themselves trans allies, but then go on to suggest that deception, boundary violation and outright abusive behaviour is inherent to being a trans person.

CAN YOU SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING?

You're telling people that "trans people HAVE to be abusive,".

And then you wonder why people don't shut up about their concerns and why abusers are drawn to trans ideology like flies to shit.

Hoosemover · 26/11/2024 16:20

@AlexandraLeaving Where has he been living the last two day?

he really didn’t need to say trans women have rights, it sounds like trans women have more rights than real women

I suspect he’s been living in his comfortable male world where he doesn’t think about these things and therefore the news story didn’t register with him. And his advisers may have forgotten to brief him (or been too TWAW to do so).

I’m not defending him BTW, his answer was piss poor, just think that’s what might have happened.

EdgeofSeventy · 26/11/2024 16:54

Scrambling for think time or hoping people will forget he was asked.
Will women be arrested 'phobia' or 'bigotry' for refusing or asking to only be searched by a woman?
BTP can fuck off with this shit

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/11/2024 16:57

It was an embarrassingly callous virtue signal. I don't really adhere to "days" but it was supposedly a day about male violence towards women and girls.

Yes, exactly.

FranticFrankie · 26/11/2024 17:03

Who is he?
Apart from sounding like a misogynist-he gave C Fox a filthy look and didn’t even answer the question!

happydappy2 · 26/11/2024 17:04

It's not because they're 'trans' that women don't wish to be intimately searched by these people, it's because they are males. Men. Simple.

illinivich · 26/11/2024 18:02

He seemed to be suggesting that state sanctioned sexual abuse was a job, and trans identifying males were just as entitled to that career as anyone else.

I agree that it sounded like he hadnt a clue what she was talking about. He heard women rights and trans and did the typical politicians thing of responding with a random trans rights slogan.

Exactly this.

The crucial question is though is this only hypothetical, is there any trans woman officers?

MotherEarthisaTerf · 26/11/2024 18:12

Could someone please inform the Right Honourable Knob about the Baird Enquiry?

for fucks sake

Scarlett, a child under 16 and victim of trafficking for sexual exploitation. Despite GMP being well aware of Scarlett’s status as a victim, who was often missing from home and very clearly being abused and trafficked, Scarlett was arrested by the police after being robbed, and stripsearched in a room close to the custody desk with a glass door through which anyone could see her in her underwear. She was not provided with an appropriate adult, and was wrongly told that if she objected, she would face a criminal charge. She was also allowed to refuse a solicitor despite this not being a decision a child can legally make.
Scarlett felt humiliated by her treatment and alienated from the police – something the inquiry notes is likely to have kept her under the control of traffickers by convincing her there was no escape.

if it would help, I give permission for the Lord to be strip searched by the most brusque burly police officer.

Inquiry finds Greater Manchester Police unlawfully arrested and stripsearched victims of abuse | End Violence Against Women

Following the shocking police treatment of three women by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) uncovered by Sky News, Dame Vera Baird KC has today (18th July 2024) released the findings of her independent inquiry into the treatment of women and girls who ha...
