Mandatory training: only DEI recommended to be in person.

My ex- NHS department recently underwent a reorganisation undertaken by an external company.

Being NHS there are literally 29 bits of Mandatory Training we have to do. About 5 years ago they discovered a great wheeze, put it all online and expect the staff to fit it in between appointments rather than attend an in-person session. I mean even Manual Handling was online!

This outside company identified among many other things that people were struggling to find time to do the MT, that rather important ones like CPR and Sepsis awareness were often hopelessly out of date. But their only recommendation was that only one MT item should be immediately reinstated as 'in person', and that was the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion one. There was nothing in the report to suggest they'd uncovered any incidents or trends in the department.

How odd is that?

Does the company have links to a DEI trading provider which has found its services to be less in demand than previously and is now looking to boost its income back up again?

One wonders. It did seem odd that with all the other ruddy great holes in training, competencies etc they flagged DEI alone. As far as I know, like the vast majority of in-person NHS MT it'd be 'in house', but possibly the 'educator' role has been depleted by so much now being online, so they would have to outsource the face to face?

If people did DEI as a remote module, attendees would probably take the more extreme stuff with a pinch of salt. Nothing like showing your colleagues are scared to call out BS to spread fear at showing any dissent.
