Help me with a few sentences for politicians - Irish election

As the tiltle says. All main parties enmeshed in gender/trans etc. I want to make it known on the door that I’m not voting for them for this reason. I just don’t know how to phrase it. I don’t want it to be a rant or start going on about specific cases/incidents. I want a polite three sentences to explain but I can’t figure it out myself.

something like

  • gender issues are most important to me as woman/daughters
  • not voting for a party who what?? Believes in trans/gender identity..
  • because its impact women and children …

any help would be greatly appreciated. I just can’t get it articulated properly in my head and want to be concise.

I'd just say I believe in men and women and I'm not voting for anyone who confuses the issue.

I had canvassers around tonight, I told them that obviously housing, integration, etc are important to me, but so are women's rights, and gender legislation taking away women's rights has to change, the Gender Recognition Act must be repealed, everyone knows you can't really change sex so the GRA is making a nonsense of the law...

The two canvassers, both women, one older, one very young, agreed completely!
The mood has shifted i think -I've had positive reactions from all the main party canvassers so far.
It'll be interesting to see if the enthusiastic pro-trans parties like Greens, Sinn Féin or PBP canvassers are more resistant on the doorstep.
Though in fairness all the parties were enthusiastic supporters of the GRA etc. in the past

There'll be lots more about the Irish election over on Craicnet, Soupfactory.

Something like: 'gender' should not have replaced 'sex' in the equality act, since no-one can define what 'gender' is. It could have been added to 'sex' - that's for politicians to decide. But women should regain their sex-based legal protection.

I want a commitment to that.

And that I sometimes lie awake at night worried about the women just up the road locked in with, or forced to work with, violent abusive men.

Maire is that FF and FG?

Should Barbie Kardashian be in a women's prison? If so, how many women harmed or terrorised is acceptable collateral damage to avoid hurting Barbie's feelings? And why the fuck should I, a woman, vote for you?

If not, then what are you going to do to stand up for women? How will you show me you're going to represent me and other women and girls?

FF FG and Labour, so far all very receptive to my complaints about gender woo. None of the other parties' canvassers have called so far.

For non-Irish readers: ALL of the Irish political parties, big and small, went overboard in supporting trans rights up to and including self-ID, so it's not like the US elections, where one side was pro-gender ideology and the other was more GC.

Or in the UK where the Green Party, for instance, can be singled out as particularly pro-GI - the Irish Green Party is no better nor no worse than any of the other parties when it comes to gender issues.

It’s no good them agreeing with you on the doorstep though. The law needs to be changed back.

It's an improvement on the pushback I've had in the past - 'But we must be kind!' 'They are the most marginalised group in society!' and they are at least taking on board the message that the GRA needs to be repealed and the law changed back to protect biological women as a class.

I have a sneaking feeling that a lot of the grassroots in the various political parties never bought the whole TWAW thing, and now they feel free to agree with GC opinions on the doorstop, instead of having to defend the party line on gender woo. Or claim 'Gender issues never come up on the doorstep'.

I always say to canvassers - or the candidates themselves who sometimes call - 'You can't say 'gender issues never come up on the doorstep' - look, that's my doorstep you're standing on, and I've just made damn sure that gender issues came up'Smile
