Surprised no one had started a thread on this yet - 4 schools (universities/colleges?) have forfeited against this suddenly successful school after it was revealed they are fielding a trans-identified male player. 1 team had forfeited whilst their school says they haven't. A team mate of the trans player yhas subsequently joined Riley Gaines' lawsuit against the NCAA.

This was their statement:

We, the University of Nevada Reno women's volleyball team, forfeit against San Jose State University,' the team's statement read.

'We demand that our right to safety and fair competition on the court be upheld. We refuse to participate in any match that advances injustice against female athletes.'

Riley Gaines backs Nevada women volleyball team in trans rival debate

UNR's women's volleyball team found itself at odds with its own university when it opposed the school's wish to compete against San Jose State University and transgender player Blaire Fleming.

Brave women 👏🏻 The NCAA's stance is a disgrace. Why are women being put in this position? How many women have to get hurt before they put an end to this?

The university of Nevada responded to the players' statement by saying the game would go ahead regardless (could be interesting without any players on 1 side). The state govenor has backed the players.

Well yeah, they had no choice under current legislation - especially since the players' statement was the first really overt one, mentioning safety and fairness. But the U rather pointedly stresses no individual player will face any sanctions for boycotting.
