Green Party Spend £1m on Legal Fees In Four Years As Gender Rows Continue

This good article summarises the crazy situation in the Greens:

The Green Party has spent £1m over four years fighting legal battles against its own members, as divisions over gender continue to threaten the party’s finances.
The Greens have faced at least four legal cases since 2022 – the majority relating to members claiming they have been discriminated against over their gender critical beliefs.

Hopefully the article will finally help spread the news on how far the Greens have got locked into a crazy situation.

More on the recent internal Green rebellion against this madness in this thread :
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5179157-fightback-nw-greens-recall-two-ta-council-reps?

Note Ali Shahrar is going back to court and is gardening again. The Greens are refusing to pay what they owe and he also is taking action over his recent suspension:

However, on 11 October 2024, the Green Party has sought to set out its position on further assessment of the costs award against them, refusing to pay the full amount after payment of an interim amount. Their position can only be described as bullish, and unreasonably so. (It's not though they are filing for bankruptcy?) There seems to be no point at which they will accept the reality of their losing, on unlawful discrimination or costs. Unfortunately, this matter will now require further legal resolution (they have given us an ultimatum).

You would nearly think that the Greens don't actually care about the environment and really need to go back to basics...

WarriorN · 15/10/2024 07:49

Willy boy has now joined too I see.

Rummly · 15/10/2024 08:01

What do you expect from a bunch of cranks?

They’re being overwhelmed by entryist men’s rights activists. It will destroy them in the end.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/10/2024 08:46

Why have they refused to pay, I thought they were court ordered?

As the quote from Ali above said they have no real reason it seems.

Plus it is now clear that they didn't follow internal procedure AGAIN in suspending him this time which is exactly why they lost the last case.

They just are really really dumb.

Angry Season 4 GIF by The Simpsons

It all seems a bit toddler tantrum or maybe Harry Enfield as Kevin.

Igmum · 16/10/2024 07:27

Oh good God how stupid can they get 🤦‍♀️

Aibuquestiononrelationship · 09/01/2025 10:41

The price for being captured and pandering to men with 'feels like a women' and mentally ill young people who need counselling not different gender (from a vast selection on offer) confirmation/affirmation!

The Green Party seems to be full of stupid people a million miles away from their roots of looking after the environment.

I thought Kevin was a carrot. Which is green I suppose.

With Natalie Bird's win quoting Shahrar's judgement looking like the other cases facing the Greens are bound to win. So legal costs only going to get higher. Plus the confusion over the Greens position will come under deeper scrutiny as more elections happen in May. They still have no position on Cass Review.

The thing is, we are all losers in this scenario. I used to vote and doorstep for the Greens and it would be good for the UK to have a strong political voice speaking up for the environment, as some other European countries do. But I feel like I could never vote for them again at present. They have not just betrayed me and half the population - they are actively campaigning against us.

I've also voted for them in the past. I couldn't now. They have turned into a joke but are actively against women's safety and rights whilst pushing for men

Yep. Intentional or not, it's proving an effective way to kill off a party.

Edited

Yes, it is no longer about having a deep feeling for Ecology and the environment, but about adopting the right kinds of 'position' on any number of issues: detached from both the earth and from reality. 'Environmentalism' for the digital age.

Sasskitty · 10/01/2025 10:43

The Green Party are an incompetent waste of space. They’re becoming dangerous now with their views against women’s rights.

Look what they did to Brighton. Dreadful.

SinnerBoy · 10/01/2025 10:49

I think that this is an excellent use of finances, by the Green Party.

Said some barristers.

Alalalala · 10/01/2025 10:53

The Green Party are now ruled by dangerous MRAs who are deprioritising the environment in favour of men’s rights and trans activism without one moment of ideological self reflection. It’s shocking and it’s gutting.

Yep, it's bizarre stuff for those of us old enough remember the Greens as an environmentalist party.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/01/2025 11:32

You can hear Emma Bateman talk about her case, along with other female members who give accounts of how they have been treated, on this webinar.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/01/2025 11:42

I believe Dawn Furness also has a court case in the pipeline, and her story as she tells it on the webinar is quite shocking, she alleges physical assault by another party member and nothing being done about it. Alison Teal was the Greens MP candidate for Sheffield and was removed for comments she made about Eddie Izzard.

TWETMIRF · 10/01/2025 22:35

I wonder how many green party members know that they are called green because it's supposed to be about the environment and how many think it's just named after a random colour?

A month or so again the Scottish Greens secured a ban on snare traps in Scotland.

They are now campaigning for a ban on electric shock collars for dogs.

Other things are indeed happening besides gender/trans topics.
