How is this not a hate crime?

The legislation on hate crimes and speech is still fairly sensible. It's somewhat older legislation and predates some of the crazy stuff that has been going on since I'd pol took over.

That being said, a heck of a lot of people do not understand this and will talk about the law as if it was as you suggested.

Yaniv is treated like a troll in Canada. Correctly so. Unfortunately, he is very good at staying just inside of the law. Just yelling a slur isn't illegal. His #1 pastime is filing nuisance lawsuits and generating absurd situations to create new ones. My favourite is when he sued a gynaecologist for not seeing him. (The allegation is that they said they didn't serve trans patients, which would be a problem for someone born female, but I don't trust his reporting.)

He really is painfully mentally ill alongside just being horrible. I wonder is that why they leave him alone.

Is that now, or always? I don’t remember him being treated like a troll when he was allowed to punish women with his racism by making them endure the process of a tribunal needing legal representation, with two businesses subsequently closing as a result. I don’t remember the mainstream Canadian media treating him as a troll, instead I remember their silence on his antics and predatory invasion of female spaces demonstrating his period fetish, and vilification of women like Meghan Murphy who called him out. A lot of people went along with his antics and supported him, or at least pretended not to see what he was demonstrating.

If he’s treated like a troll now, it’s because not because of his continued actions, because they should have seen it at the beginning, it must be a “we’ve always been at war with Eastasia” situation.

The reporting of the tribunals was very strictly controlled/not allowed. I remember one very brave woman whose name escapes me secretly tweeting - and risking a LOT to get the truth out into the world about this vile man. They protected him for years.

He used to call the fire brigade out saying he was stuck in his bath so they had to handle him naked - I think the fire brigade eventually refused.

I would take his mention of having a picture of her kid on his phone as an implied threat but, hey, maybe it's just "bantz" like the "Decapitate Terfs" guys in Scotland.
