Fgs! Drag acts can be as obscene as possible in front of children and tras get their knobs out on live tv, but godforbid a so obviously non sexualised barely representational painting of a naked woman be in a gallery.
And I thought Hay on Wye was full of Guardian arts luvvies and that Sheelah Nae Gigs would be right up their street.

It is sexualised. And a very stereotypical sexualised picture it is too.

Why are her legs spread if she's not giving birth?

Pictures of naked adults are made for the male gaze, not for the female's.

I heard an interview with the artist-she's absolutely delighted with outcry due to the publicity it's given her.

Trigger warnings expected absolutely everywhere for the most basic things, but you're supposed to walk your kids past that going gosh how excitingly shocking and transgressive.

Clown world.

Someone put a sticker on it saying 'this is an adult human female', that'll fix it. It'll be triple locked in a dungeon somewhere in seconds, with counselling required for those exposed to it.

It's like a Monty Python sketch.

But she wasn't even talking about a reaction to seeing actual vulvas, she was saying we were scared of her cartoon-like depiction of one.

Contemptuous of her woeful lack of talent and disgusted by her pandering to porn-soaked male culture, but scared? The meaning of words is another area where she seems to lack skill.

We saw that last week when we were in Hay. We both commented that it was really poorly executed and no one seemed to be taking much notice of it. There were two young women in the shop who seemed to be involved in it some way,and it looked like they were hoping for some sort of reaction,as they kept looking at us,almost expectantly.
We'd gone to Hay to look for books and hopefully some artwork,but decided that that particular gallery had nothing that we'd want.
