Good news for Shahrar. I hope he's not left out of pocket, though.

I wonder what the Greens are going to do about their deeply entrenched and continuing discrimination.

WorriedMutha · 14/09/2024 01:08

I would love to see the Greens snuffed out. They have succumbed to entryism and prioritise trans rights over the environment. They are anti science and harm the environmental cause. Let them rot.

Considering the latest list of people they excluded from conference, I am not sure how they can come back without a significant reorganisation and change of current policy. It would be a mammoth task.

I've been reading this article and substituting "transactivism" for all the parasite names and "the Green Party" for the parasites' hosts.

https://sangerinstitute.blog/2023/03/13/three-mind-blowing-examples-of-parasites-that-hijack-their-hosts-brains-and-bodies/

Fascinating stuff. Mother nature is incredible....

I would love to see the Greens return to their roots, and do justice to the brave, principled, and sensible people who have been involved in the movement for decades. We need an environmental party more than ever.

It does look as though genderism could kill it off, though.

I popped into his timeline on X to say thank you. Very principled man.

I'm pleased.

At the same time, I'm annoyed at the failure of the awards to cover the costs of bringing the cases. (I know being awarded any costs is unusual .)

The costs of these victories to the people who are courageous enough to bring these actions is high, both for their emotional and financial resources.

Edited

I agree. I'm so pleased for him but, at the same time, I'm really angry. the creation of an outrageous legal fiction without public support, consultation or impact assessment, has forced the public to crowdfund to seek justice and protect their basic rights. It's not a fair system. The law seems to only exist for those with deep pockets.

lcakethereforeIam · 14/09/2024 14:30

Does anyone know how it's left him regarding the most recent suspension? I'm assuming that's not been rescinded.

Great article from Greens in Exile includes Shahrar's full victory speech text. Key points:

No one can know for sure what the party has spent defending itself in the Ali case. Transparency to its membership is not one of the party’s strong points, but even moderate estimates put it at approximately £200,000 + £100,000 awarded to Dr Ali in costs and damages.

The party is reported to have put £280,000 aside for potential legal bills.

Who pays?
If the estimate of the Ali case above is correct, that leaves the party nothing to defend itself against known future legal actions and those currently being considered by a number of the Greens in Exile.

Many members of the party may have noticed that their membership fees were recently hiked. This was widely reported as being a direct result of the party’s legal position in its attempt to defend the indefensible.

The party’s financial auditors also noted that the Ali vs GPEW case left “uncertainty” about the party’s ability to keep running normally.

Sexist nonsense is going to make the Greens go bankrupt.

Ali vs GPEW: Dr Shahrar Ali awarded £90,000 costs - Greens in Exile

Yesterday the much anticipated cost awards hearing for Ali vs GPEW took place. The Green Party of England and Wales was ordered to pay former deputy leader Dr Shahrar Ali £90,000.

I doubt it will be rescinded:

The Mayor's and City County Court awarded £9,100 in damages to Dr Ali.

But the judgement upheld political parties' right to dismiss spokespeople whose views differ from party policy.

The Green Party admitted "procedural shortfalls" in dismissing Dr Ali.

They will drop the suspension after a while. It was an obviously absurd suspension. They suspended Ali because he was planning to table motions at the conference not because they had a real case against him. Look at what they suspended him over it is nonsense:

Shahar Ali
Recklessly - Green Party of England & Wales has today sought to "no fault" suspend me, pending investigation, on basis of a complaint I take to be wholly vexatious, in particular, for standing up for rights of WOMEN in sport not to be subjected to MALE violence in Olympic boxing ring. For calling out indefensible endangerment of women in sport, it is I who stands accused of "posing a danger to party" & allegedly bringing it into disrepute for aligning myself with JK Rowling & others.

Let me be clear, what happened in Olympics was high end of obscene. I will not corrupt my moral compass through failure to speak out about it - NEVER! Nor will I capitulate to the fanatics in Green Party, as my recent legal VICTORY should have amply demonstrated. Continued, sustained campaign of harassment against my gender critical protected belief, & that of other brilliant people, will not go unchecked. Timing of "no-fault" suspension is particularly sinister as it now prevents me from speaking to a motion on Cass at conference in just two week's time. I urge all sane members to pass that motion doubly strongly as an act of defiance & solidarity! Green Party is playing a very dangerous game. I am still in litigation with them, with a cost hearing next month. I am seeking legal advice on latest development.

I mean if they want to stick with it they will have to argue that Imane Khelif is a woman in court and there was NO question over his sex at all. That there was not a huge media and public debate about the situation at the Olympics. It would be a spectacular case which they would lose. Especially as JKR could potentially join the case as well from the sound of it.

Remember they have spent years trying to get rid of Shahrar and they kept screwing up. These people are incompetent.

I know some of those people, incompetent but ruthless.
Denyer is a Head girl and very ambitious for herself. The environment, not so much.

Totally agree, ruthless and vindictive. That is why the fight is so bitter. However, their hatred outweighs their capability. They are so intolerant, they can't think things through to construct a more air tight position. Instead they expose themselves as bigots every time by attempting to destroy anyone who thinks differently as quickly as possible. That is why they are going to lose the court cases that are coming.

Recent Zoe Hatch thread shows the truth and how the Judge saw through their evasion:

I wonder how TheGreenParty feels about having to pay £99k for discriminating against Shahrar Ali. A matter so clear to me that I resigned from the GPEW exec. in 2022 because of it - I was not prepared to be involved in such an obvious & egregious act of discrimination. 🧵

I was proud to be a witness in the trial, testifying against The Party that the Spokesperson Monitoring Group gave NO reason for removing Shahrar in 2022 - this was because they would not admit their discriminatory prejudice against Shahrar's so-called GC views.

It was only on the FIRST DAY of the trial, when The Party changed their defence plea, that they accepted Shahrar's GC beliefs were the reason they removed him - now claiming they could legitimately remove him in line with party policy (a lie, by the way).

Of course, you CANNOT remove a person from a political party because of their GC beliefs (or any other beliefs). Especially in The Green Party whose philosophy allows for differing opinions and clearly defines single-sex provisions & rights for women in some of its policies.

However, as GPEW tried to throw further punches at Shahrar in court on Friday, seeking to undermine his credibility, it was clear TheGreenParty
showed no remorse, no morality. They appear to have learnt nothing.

The ever shrewd Judge Hellman was across their theatrics, seeking to clarify his ruling from the outset by saying that 'Dr. Ali was clearly successful' & 'If GPEW thought otherwise they were occupying a different universe to him' (the judge).

If that is not enough to focus the minds of the GPEW exec they should heed the Judge's closing remarks that Dr. Ali was 'dismissed as a spokesperson because of his Gender Critical beliefs'... 'he succeeded on the central and most important aspect to his claim.'

There are more claims against the party coming down the line, many of them clearer & even more outrageous than Shahrar's treatment - The first of which is EmmaBatemanGPW if you want to support her, now is a superb time to donate to her crowdfunder:
