I have been given a voucher recently, and would like to treat myself to a non-fiction book. The four I'm looking at are:
In defence of witches, by Mona Collet
Time to think, by Hannah Barnes
Hags, by Victoria Smith
The woman who wouldn't wheesht

Which would you pick? Or is there something else?

Most important for me is the tone it's written in, I don't like anything to heavy or formal. I've recently read Trans and Sex Matters and currently reading Invisible Women.

I found 'Hags' a bit heavy-handed - and also out of sympathy with me because of a revealed political opinion I deeply disagreed with. But that's my take.

I loved the Women who wouldn't wheesht. It is very readable, and I loved the passion of the authors. I have just finished Time to Think, and I really enjoyed that too. It is a very shocking, sobering read. I haven't read the other two books.

I've just finished In Her Nature by Rachel Hewitt. It's part memoir/women's social history, part nature/sports writing. Quite similar to Invisible Women in many ways and on fact the writer credits Caroline Criado Perez in the acknowledgements. I really enjoyed it, although she does hedge the transwomen in women's sport question a bit - frustratingly since she clearly understands the issues.
