I've never met a child who wanted to stay a child. Children can definitely be scared of growing up but that's usually realising you have to work and make decisions.
Sadly, @bluedomino this is a common feature of Anorexia Nervosa & also exhibited by lots of people with OSFED.

It’s certainly not always the case; when it is the case it shouldn’t be assumed to be about manipulating others into a caretaking role; it’s always going to be more complex than “just” that - but as a very traumatised 10yo I absolutely didn’t want to grow up. In my case, I knew my mother was dead, but part of me thought if I could keep everything the same she’d somehow be able to come back to me - & my “eating disorder voice” was very insistent that the reason she hadn’t was my failure to freeze myself in time.
We know that a high number of children referred to GIDS had MH comorbidities including EDs. If puberty blockers had been available when I was 10 I’d have moved mountains to get hold of them. For many anorexics no period & a childlike shape is the dream - it’s distressing to think GIDS has potentially been enabling EDs not helping treat them.
