It wasn't until reading this thread that I realised Dr Anthony James - COO of PinkNews and Husband of PNco-founder Ben Cohen - was also a trustee of the Mermaids charity.

Fascinating isn't it.

Gender GP got similarly outed for treating staff like dirt a while ago. I suppose it isn't surprising that companies which treat outsiders badly also treat insiders badly. They're just deeply unpleasant and toxic companies

Yes, there does seem to be a common theme.

The word "diverse" has been so mangled by the movement that includes pink news.

It's impossible for a single person to be diverse. Because, obviously, "diverse" means having lots of different kinds of people.

But this movement sees diversity as simply having individuals who have attributes that are considered non-standard by the movement, even if they all have the same non-standard attribute like being gay.

If anything, in this movement, uniformity is prized over actual diversity. Uniformity of political stance is necessary. And uniformity of social background condoned. Language must be used uniformly. Glossaries of "accepted terminology" are distributed.

I have had a sense for a while that a lot of these types of organisations while at having all the right "woke" credentials can actually be toxic places to work.

I've got a number of friends who work in the super progressive charity sector and the stories they have had to tell are horrific- sexual harassment, racism, bullying etc.

It's a bit like strictly- the most ostensibly diverse and inclusive show on tv but actually a hotbed of bullying and misogyny.

I work in a much more traditional sector and this kind of thing would just not be tolerated. Decency, fairness and dignity are core values.

I never trusted pinknews as a reliable news source and IMO their content is clearly misogynistic... but those tweets show a deeply rotten organisation at so many levels 😲
