Thanks for posting this; I hadn't seen it.

Girl (2019) was the first book I read in 2024, and I came at it from a critical stance, having visited Nigeria and having read a lot of work about Boko Haram's kidnapping of girls - such as Buried Beneath the Baobab Tree by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, Patience Ibrahim's A Gift From Darkness, and Helon Habila's The Chibok Girls. Girl held its own, though, and was probably read by a lot of people who might not have come across the other authors mentioned.

Edna O'Brien was 93. Quite a life!

(Edited because autocorrect mangled Adaobi into Adobe, and seems to be determine to do so!)

A long life well lived.

Thanks @MarieDeGournay, I was hoping someone might have posted.
She was beautiful, brilliant and groundbreaking and gave great parties, apparently. I'll be reading her again.

Yes I read her books as a teenager, they left quite an impression on me. May she RIP

August is a Wicked Month - a good read, and without giving spoilers I found some aspects of it thought-provoking and quite shocking.

The BBC have run an obituary as have the Guardian, The Irish Times & RTÉ amongst others.
