People assigned female at birth have a higher risk of...

...developing mouth ulcers.

How does that work then? If people are randomly assigned male or female at birth how could either group be at increased risk of anything? Do these people even think about what they're writing? How does this obfuscation help anyone?

My mind was running through all sorts of possible conclusions to your title. I was going with pregnancy. 😅

Motorina · 28/07/2024 16:31

That’s cos mouth ulcers are significantly affected by hormonal fluctuations. Pregnancy, periods, the menarche… although why any of those should be more common in people AFAB will clearly need more research.

BloodyHellKenAgain · 28/07/2024 16:44

Well females are much more likely to get breast cancer than men for starters and autoimmune diseases and sex specific disease and are much less likely to get heart disease compared to men or go bald etc etc etc

Some people appear shocked that male and female bodies are different from each other 🤷‍♀️

Yeah it could almost suggest that people AFAB have something in common.

If only I'd not been AFAB, I might not be suffering this bastard of an ulcer.

Yup. That bastard midwife. If only she'd been feeling in a blue-baby mood when she picked you'd be mouth-ulcer free, earn 20% more, and have better pockets.

Reallybadidea · 28/07/2024 16:50

Perhaps we should just stop assigning people female at birth and assign them male or non-binary? That should fix it and all although AFAB-related issues. I await the call informing me that I've won the Nobel prize for medicine.

Not saying its the issue here, but quite often women's health is impacted by the men they live with and / or have sex with.

eg in the days when printing was more common, wives of men who worked as printers had a higher instance of cervical cancer.

This was assumed to be that if men washed their hands at all, it would be after they had unrinated.

There probably were and probably still are many jobs that involve liquids, chemicals or whatever, so that men doing this work should to told to always wash their hand before handling their penis.

And on reflection women doing this work, as unless you are using a whole toilet roll, if your hands still have traces of something poisonous to the body you dont want to accidently smear it on your self.

Sorry - a bit off topic, unless it is known that mouth ulcers can be caused by something unintentionally being ingested.

It all sounds like a terrible idea for a maternity ward tombola stand. Lucky dip! Oh, you picked up a pink ticket. Please take your choice of prizes from the appropriate stand.

Well my point is that if people are randomly assigned male or female at birth and there's no correlation with biological sex, then neither group will be at increased or decreased risk of anything due to their sex.

They are very confused. They also say "female-bodied person" and then get all worked up if it's suggested that there's such a thing as a female body.

I've definitely missed the point, sorry 😂
I agree with you though 😁

People assigned female at birth have a higher risk of...
being treated with disregard both by men and the other women who have crawled up the greasy pole.

Sex is determined at conception and observed during pre-birth scans or at birth.

I think everyone on this thread is actually in agreement but not everyone realizes it. 😁

I was going with being sexually assaulted...

Mouth ulcers seem a minor bother compared to that.

DeanElderberry · 29/07/2024 08:19

people assigned female at birth

if only there was a simpler way of referring to them - they need a word of their own really, don't they? Not that it would help with the mouth ulcers.

moUth ulcers, not moth ulcers ffs

PuttingDownRoots · 29/07/2024 08:22

Its almost like sex and gender are two completely different things a d sex is more important in health care...

Ahhh but correlation is not causation in trans world. Unless you want it to be.

You get to pick and choose when this applies.

CocoapuffPuff · 29/07/2024 08:37

All I can say is i wish I'd been assigned feline at birth.

Those hairy bastards are going to spend all day lazing on my bed while I work.

Gits.

PetrichorSoul · 29/07/2024 08:38

Feck it anyway! If I'd have been assigned male at birth I could have skipped the teenage ulcer filled years.

Who do I complain to?

DeanElderberry · 29/07/2024 08:57

It is interesting that at least some of the people who have a transgender identity express that identity only via sex stereotypes and not by any of the medical (or disadvantageous social) realities of sex.

CocoapuffPuff · 29/07/2024 11:44

Reality has no place in trans ideology. You know that. It's just too fucking triggering for the sensitive wee sausages to be reminded that they're just playing make-believe.
