Double standards to put it mildly, and the Dutch authorities support of him has been nothing short of astonishing .

Its different countries standards. In the UK, I don't think there are many people that support the woman that whipped the horse. Despite her being "ours", there has been strong condemnation from the tabloids and no attempts to excuse what she did. The public reaction has been largely the same.
In the Netherlands, the tabloid reaction has been to minimise it. The public reaction has been to deflect, not want to talk about it, or be genuinely baffled at all the fuss.

I am actually glad I am British.

He won't care, he's got what he wants.

With this and the two male boxers who are going to compete in the women's boxing if ever proof was needed as to what the IOC think of women and women's sports here it is in glorious technicolour.

I can’t believe this pathetic excuse for a man is competing in the olympics. My heart breaks for his victim. She was TWELVE. Such a sad state of affairs that he’s been allowed anywhere near it.
