So the police don't have the funds or officers to deal with shoplifting or normal cases of vandalism but for this they can get forensics out and do door to door enquiries.
The comments are really quite good

Police hunt vandal who sprayed paint over Pride flags outside station

The flags, painted on the pavement outside Forest Gate railway station in east London, were vandalised in the early hours of Friday morning.

There seem to have been several cases where police horses and guide dogs have been confused by multicoloured painted roads and pavements such as rainbow and/or trans flags on zebra crossings. Guide dogs haven't been trained to recognise the different markings and police horses have been spooked. eg. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10181979/Camden-trans-walkway-New-zebra-crossing-causes-chaos-guide-dog-police-horse.html.

The obvious thing would be to ban all rainbow/trans flags, and similar, painted on the public highway for whatever reason: decoration, celebration, protest or virtue signalling, and clean them all up.

Detective Inspector James Rush from the North East Public Protection Unit, who is leading efforts to identify the offender, appealed to the public for information.'We stand with the local LGBTQ+ community and will not tolerate these disgusting, inexcusable hate crimes in Forest Gate,' he said.Hate crimes aren't what they used to be!

Yes, boring old Stephen Lawrence is just an irrelevant footnote, these days.

If it's not in PinkNews it didn't happen.

Gosh. You're VERY late to the party.

We have been complaining for YEARS that much of the mainstream and especially the left-wing press has ignored the clash of rights and safeguarding issues around trans. The BBC and the Guardian have been fucking useless on this. Hadley Freeman left the Guardian for this reason.

You might also notice that The Times has been getting good on this topic. The Spectator has also run some excellent articles. Both right-wing! The HORROR! Because they are right-wing they MUST be WRONG!

Well, er, no.

Many of us are fucked off women from the Left and the centre who have had it up to the eyeballs with having it said or implied that we are somehow right-wing, stupid, fascists, ignorant and so on for being concerned about the safeguarding of women and children, and fairness in sports.

Sorry about the block caps, everyone. I'm just pissed off with people who like to paint us all as a right-wing loons.

Catsmere · 25/07/2024 01:23

Would those homophobes include the men who declare themselves women and insist lesbians should have sex with them?

I don't know, but anyone who makes a point of vandalising pride flags counts as homophobic in my book.

Catsmere · 25/07/2024 01:28

Depends on the flag, imo. The rainbow flag as it was originally, definitely. Anything dominated by the T (and the first picture I saw was a T flag, not a rainbow flag), no.

Because the far-right DM shows its far-right readers what they want to see and what best fits the agenda. As mentioned the pride and progress flags were also targeted as shown by articles elsewhere but the DM only chooses an image of the trans flag for their article.

Catsmere · 25/07/2024 01:44

I know, I saw on the thread here later that more flags were included. I don't read the British papers, I read the threads here on MN. I was also speaking generally about what I would call homophobic in this sort of instance.

lcakethereforeIam · 25/07/2024 07:36

You'd think, what with caring so much, they'd get the spelling right?

WickedSerious · 25/07/2024 07:40

Who's 'homophobio'?

They sound rather exotic.

I think it reads "homophobics" (which yes is still incorrect grammar).

The message is still clear, the community are standing up against homophobes and TERFs.

Newham police on twitter:
"We are aware there is a gathering in Newham this evening to speak out against the defacement of LGBTQ+ symbols outside Forest Gate Station. We continue to investigate these offences and are doing all we can to locate offenders."

"Stratford and Bow MP Uma Kumaran, whose new constituency includes the area, voiced her support for the LGBTQ+ community.
“I’m sorry to share these images. Sadly, once again, the flags in Forest Gate have been defaced. I will do everything in my power to tackle LGBT+ hate crime,” the new Labour MP vowed.
“I know the fear and hurt this causes. I’ll work with Newham Council, local police and the minister for equalities on this.”

Haters will hate, but love wins in the end.

AlisonDonut · 25/07/2024 09:11

It is good to know all actual crime is totally resolved in the area. Surely this should be front page news and they should roll out their crime busting techniques worldwide?

There was something on the pavement that night

The colours so bright
Homophobio!

They were shining there for you and me

For LGBT
Homophobio!

Catsmere · 25/07/2024 12:35

And there we have it - women standing up for our rights are evil. Not wanting men in single-sex spaces makes us "transphobes" (whether or not we are radical feminists).

NotBadConsidering · 25/07/2024 12:56

It could have been a gay person standing up against the homophobia of the trans movement. I’d love to see the Met spin that as a “hate crime”.
