The Guardian sees absolutely no link between a person's transition and this statement "She remembers questioning her identity from a young age, and “being told not to behave in certain ways, because I was not corresponding to my gender.” The disconnect was especially tough in a strictly Catholic environment."

Basically, gay child discouraged from behaving in stereotypically feminine ways in an abusive religious household- textbook.

It's a really common feature of interviews with adult trans people. V useful as conversation starters with people who don't fully understand the issue. Most people agree that homophobia ought to be the thing that is changed, rather than a gay person's body, especially where children are concerned.

Joining the dots is a bit beyond the Guardian.

But they also say in that article that Nadia's "gender identity [was] shared with the viewers but not her fellow housemates".

Surely it wasn't Nadia's "gender identity" they were unaware of, it was Nadia's sex.

What if one of the housemates started a relationship...
