This is so shocking. Lorna was killed while walking home from the shops because a man wanted to say 'told you so' to medics.

Words fail me OP.
And in the light of yesterday's appalling murders of 3 women....

Guardian coverage:

Davis, 31, had admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. A psychiatrist for his defence team, Dr Richard Pool, concluded he had a mental illness, schizoaffective disorder, at the time.
But the prosecution refused to accept his plea. Its expert, Dr John Sandford, told the court: “I find no evidence of abnormality of his mental functioning at the time. It was a purposeful action and he was perfectly aware of the reality of what he was doing.”

In January 2023 Davis had told a support worker that he would kill himself or someone else. He went to a police station and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital. Two psychiatrists examined him and said he did not need to be detained.
On the morning of the killing, Davis called the police and said he would burn his flat down if he was not arrested. When emergency services arrived, he told them he would kill a “random person” if he was not detained, and he was taken back to the Royal Devon and Exeter.
He was seen by mental health specialists and again said he was going to kill someone, but he was discharged.
Davis left hospital at 12.49pm and killed England at about 3.55pm. When he was picked up in Exeter city centre, he told police: “I fucking warned you. None of you … listened.”

Inhuman.

Has anyone analysed these kind of attacks to see whether the victims are usually women?

I know men are murdered too. Often in gang killing, which doesn't stop it being every bit as devastating for the families of those men and boys.

But I'm intrigued at whether men citing "mental health" usually make the active choice to choose a victim they know will be weaker.

I hope he has a horrific time in prison.

When men threaten to kill women it should be taken as seriously as a terrorist threat. Why is it not?

Because women are service creatures, not humans. Only men are humans.

That judge’s summing up is peculiar.

One by one it lists all the signs that this man is a mad murderer only to say they do not mean he actually is a mad murderer.

It's because he is diagnosed with a personality disorder which is a disputed category of mental ill health. A disorder of personality is just that and not an 'illness' such as depression or bipolar. The judge is making that very difficult distinction. This helps explain it a bit better than I can
