….are mixed sex. Lockable, solid doors, and all visible to the attendant. So far, ok. I went in with my daughter - an apologetic attendant said we couldn’t share a cubicle. Apparently the mixed-sex nature has encouraged some couples to share fitting rooms, for “other purposes”

So, this progressive store now has to separate all its customers 😂😂😂

How very pearl clutch of them to object.

😆 oh dear … another issue that will have to be considered then
it’s a serious subject but .. never saw this one happening lol

I'm sure same sex customers may have used the cubicles for other purposes too. One per cubicle unless additional needs seems best to me

UpThePankhurst · 15/07/2024 21:27

Worth noting though, why have the rules had to change and why have mothers now lost the ability to share a cubicle with their daughter?

Because men in women's spaces bring sexual activity into the space.

The men coming in equal the rules having to be re set and women losing the freedoms they had. It's always the women who lose. It's always because of penises seeking happy experiences.

I wonder what that tells us about the behaviour of the two sexes? When the changing rooms were single sex the store had no problem with people sharing, now they do, the difference being that they no longer have single sex spaces.

susie1984234 · 15/07/2024 22:04

It's common practice for most retailers tbh and it's also to minimise theft.
I find it reasonable for most cases although if a child has additional needs I'm sure an exception would be made in most cases

Keeptoiletssafe · 16/07/2024 13:11

The same is reported with mixed sex toilet cubicles in schools.

How is the mother supposed to help with choosing clothes? What are they expecting the mother to do with the daughter apart from look at clothes

The problem is when cubicles have floor to ceiling doors, people can feel they can do something inappropriate. However, with doors with gaps under them, men will try to stick their phones under the doors. There is a simple solution. Separate sex changing rooms.

Isn't this potentially discriminatory against onanists, though? Shouldn't they equally be protected from using the rooms for "other purposes"? I'm fairly sure there's a looming lawsuit here, or at the very least a series of outraged mean tweets.

notthatfish · 17/07/2024 11:39

Mixed sex changing rooms means women can't help each other choose clothes (an enjoyable part of the shopping experience). But allows men to harass women. So allowing men to get what they want, while taking away from women. Win win according to misogynists.
