The replies confirming that on this issue, he's firmly in an echo chamber - 'here's the tweet' surely illustrative of fact he's lost it...

Oh dear, he might needs his glasses prescription reviewing because he cant tell the difference between a T and a +

The irony of my own typo doesn't escape me. I'm my defense I was typing as i was eating lunch

55 Tufton St carries a lot of baggage, people who follow British politics whether on the left or right are very aware of it and the influence the organisations based there carry with the current government so it's an easy 'score' for TRAs to mention it - especially as if Labour get in then that governmental influence disappears immediately.

Accepting an office there was a rare misstep from LGBA.

Are you...are you saying that....if you live on the same street as someone, you must share their political stance? It's news to me.

Or do you move to a certain place and then sort of...absorb the neighbours' politics, like a sort of ideological osmosis? How does it happen - through the skin, or is it airbourne?

This sounds like a massive scandal which the pOwErS tHaT bE have been covering up. I suggest you get a decent, principled and not at all nutty legal eagle on your side, stat! I've heard that Jolyon Maugham's quite good: he will take on your case, and lose it spectacularly, all for the very reasonable price of £600k and a dead fox.

dolorsit · 26/06/2024 12:48

Part of the problem was they couldn't get offices in the buildings known for being left wing as the other tenants felt "unsafe"

Tbf you can't really expect people who can't differentiate between sex and gender, or man and woman, to be able to tell T and + apart.

DeadbeatYoda · 26/06/2024 12:59

As someone rightly points out in response, it's a '+' not a ' t', this is baseless conflation; disingenuous at best, dangerous at worst.
It's a shame as I have always supported the Good Law Project as it does some very important work, Jolyon Maughan's descent into unreason blinkered pronouncements saddens me.

55 Tufton Street is an office address which has a lot of right wing (some arguably far right) think tanks based there.

Nobody lives there and no-one cares about what happens elsewhere on the street.

Yes I know it well. Feeding Britain had their office there and I used to do some work for them (never met Frank Field tho, sadly).

the idea that having an office on a street will cause you to absorb the politics of the other offices (through the skin? The air?) is so BASIC as to be risible.

It couldn't be that at the time that LGBA were looking for an office, West end and Westminster commercial space was at an historic low per sq ft because of Covid and then higher interest rates which meant lots of existing tenants had to re-fi? Not like this historically unusual supply-demand imbalance was well reported in the news or anything? Oh no, it has to be because there's some shadowy numinous FORCE on tufton street which causes everyone who rents office space there to go all right wing.

jeez. I thought MN-ers were amongst the last bastion of people who didn't get their news off tik tok.

On trying to read the X post I was delighted to discover Jolyon has blocked me! Never had any dealings with him that I recall but I must be on his banned TERF list somehow.

TWETMIRF · 26/06/2024 13:45

WTF? How the hell can someone accuse JKR of rape? Utterly bonkers reply but par for the course for the TRAs

I think he's got one of those X programmes that filter out 'terfy' accounts and automatically block them for the user.

Very useful for those who live in terror of coming across an original or fresh thought when browsing their fave social media platform.

That’s the account that’s been harassing James Dreyfus - it does quite the line in libellous accusations. There was another TRA account on TwiX a while ago making patently false claims of having been sexually assaulted by her at HP book signings, which may be what they’re referring to; but it might be a fabrication of their own, or yet another revolting liar.

I think there was a thread about this but I can't find it, so if you don't mind I'm leaving this here

The Foxphobe claimed that a whistle-blower has given him information on a surge of suicides in Gids patients. I'll be charitable and assume he had just misunderstood.

What is it about tras weaponising the deaths of children and young people. If I ever meet JoMo or Starmer perhaps I'll ask them why they do it.

Every time I see trans activists mention Tufton Street now, I mentally bracket the speaker or writer with the type of people who made their children break off friendships with school peers who lived in <gasp> council houses.

UtopiaPlanitia · 29/06/2024 01:02

Cake, I was shocked to see Ryan state that one American activist has made and published a spreadsheet claiming to track deaths by suicide of trans-identified young people in the UK. Michael Biggs of Oxford University was asked for comment regarding this potential data and he said the number given seemed 'very unlikely'.

The Cass Report is also mentioned by Ryan as suggesting some of the suicides were in young people who were GIDS patients not on the waiting list or patients who had transferred on to adult services.

Sloejelly · 29/06/2024 10:22

Someone who is suicidal quite simply does not have capacity to make decisions about medications and surgery. That alone should exclude them from treatment.

I’ve seen that TRA’s “data” & it has people up to age 28 who were never seen by GIDs; people who’d had surgery & were distressed by it; & several young people with long histories of complex mental health problems - inquests cited things like failings in care provision for example; or the police not immediately looking for a child who had a history of suicide attempts. One “suicide” listed was not an attempt to die (accidental inhalation of too much deodorant/bodyspray by a teenager with autism, ADHD & ODD).

TRAs are always gong on about the LGBA address. I believe it's something to do with other businesses in the area. Some of them are right wing. Or something.

Tufton Street is where mysterious organisations set up right wing ‘think tanks’ that are actually front organisations and lobby groups. It’s a sort of shorthand for ‘shadowy’ and right-wing.

That particular spreadsheet-creating US TRA has recently tweeted that Dr Cass has blood on her hands. That's some extremely inflammatory (and defamatory I would add) rhetoric that helps nobody.

I had an email from LGB Alliance, is it this KC that they are referring to?

This is the main content of the message:

"Dear Friend,

Most of us here have had to develop a pretty thick skin in the past five years since LGB Alliance was founded. But on Wednesday morning our legal team got in touch to highlight a post on X that they felt went beyond the ‘normal abuse’ we receive, and that they said was clearly defamatory.

The post was by an unfriendly KC – I won’t repeat what he said here – and our lawyers asked us to consider whether we wanted to proceed to legal action.

We discussed it.

We talked about the reputational damage caused by false claims and how these attacks on our integrity and motives - and on our people - make it so much harder to carry out our work. But we also agreed that interrupting that work is, in large part, the purpose of these attacks.

So we decided not to bite, and to focus on our priorities - the activities we conduct as an LGB charity."

GateauxBlaster · 30/06/2024 16:13

We discussed it

It's like reading an end of year report from a teacher who has spent a year dealing with Tarquin and his little 'quirks' and who is not allowed to rearrange the words "utter bound fucking for knobhead borstal" in to a sentence and use it in said report.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 30/06/2024 16:19

Yes, he seems to be too stupid (or blinded by his agenda) to be able to read and understand the tweet he's quoted. What a chump.
