Have you spoilt your ballot? A thread to indicate numbers

Hi all
I've just posted my vote. I live in a constituency where the incumbent has a big majority, and will win again. He is the only one people have posters up for, the only one really sending out leaflets etc everyone else has given up. He is Labour, and full on TWAW, insists there is no conflict with women's rights and refused to talk to me about this issue. The other candidates are the usual mix of Tory and Greens with a sprinkling of independents and Reform.

Politically speaking I am Labour, and always have been. But their attitude towards the rights of women is shocking. To be fair I grew up in a family heavily involved in unions so I always knew the unions were misogynistic but Labour seemed ok. Not any more.

If you have spoilt your ballot it would be interesting to know so that we can see (and maybe politicians can see) what women are thinking

How many percentage wise might be acknowledged as statistically important? If there were say 3% more than the other candidates together perhaps?
I would like to know whether any records of postal votes sent out compared to returned are kept, and how you could find out if your pv was included ( not lost)

I think that would be interesting to know too, especially in today's postal climate. It took three weeks for my PIP form to get to DWP so do postal votes get priority over other post like the covid tests used to do, or could it also take three weeks? How could I be certain it got to the counters in time, or indeed not put into the wrong storage room and found a week later? 🤔

I think the post office will be prioritising postal ballots (hopefully!). I don't expect an individual response to my spoilt ballot but it may be that there is enough of an increase for it to be noticed

Oh wow, is that what all the foolish disobedient creatures are expecting? That must be why they haven't placidly and dutifully accepted their menu of correct options.

A haiku, inspired by Joleyne

Joleyne, your disdain
Just spurs me on to spoil it
Purely out of pique.

I don't think that we're
Expecting a big fanfare
Or certificate.

Just using our vote
In a way of our choosing
Despite the scolding.

Starmer has my vote
Tories will be gone real soon
So Sunak get your coat!

Waitwhat23 · 03/07/2024 17:58

A haiku addendum

I don't even know
How I'm voting/not as yet
But fuck the scolding.

Yes I spoiled mine. I wrote “repeal the GRA” “No Gender Ideology in schools” and “Women’s spaces= no males” across mine.
Labour voter for the past 20 years but couldn’t do it with a clear conscience this time.

If anyone is still watching this thread - I managed to find details of spoiled ballots where I am but I don't understand the language used. I wrote 'no' in every box and then a statement across the paper but can't figure out which category my ballot would go in.

What on earth does 'wholly void for uncertainty' mean?
