GRR mk2? Self id in Scotland

Just come across this article by Iain MacWhirter in the Spectator

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/scotlands-women-face-a-choice-on-self-id-in-this-election/

Starmer has ruled out unblocking the GRR but could he allow it to proceed if it was changed, even if those changes were only cosmetic? I'd like to think this is just scaremongering. Please, it is just scaremongering isn't it? And I don't even live in Scotland.

Scotland's women face a choice on self-ID in this election

Labour says that they agree with the 'gender critical' interpretation of the 2010 Equality Act that it already protects single sex spaces

Unfortunately no it's not scaremongering just look at Wales for a road map of what starmer and sardar have planned

Cant read the article but the issue is can Scotland or Wales (or NI) have a gender recognition policy that isn't in line with the overarching UK policy (law).

And the answer is no (recent court case).

However if Labour are to go through with their proposals to make getting a GRC easier, it may well be that proposals from Scotland and Wales (and NI?) will no longer be that different to the UK wide law / guidance.

That's the issue.

What Labour will do to the GRA and the EA.

Apologies @IwantToRetire I was able to read it but Spectator links can be a bit hit or miss, I should have been more thoughtful.

I hope the above link will work for you if you do wish to read it.

thanks for archive link and reminder of incognito.

No time to read, will later.

But just realised my earlier post was based on (Labour) Government behaving in line with accepted political practice.

Just because the Tory Government took it upon itself to uphold the precedence of UK wide law over devolved law, doesn't mean Labour would do the same.

In fact if they let both Wales and Scotland bring in easier self id, it could open the door to saying that might as well equalise across the UK and amend GRA / EA. Shock

Another article in The Times

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/scotland/article/anas-sarwar-a-labour-government-would-work-with-snp-on-gender-laws-s7p2k2l56

https://archive.ph/rifow take the high road, honestly it helps to take something

There's an article about having to take photo id (which is a whole other issue) to vote is negatively affecting tp. You'd have to have a heart of stone etc.

And I noticed a headline (that I don't have time to check), 50% of tp in Scotland are 16-24yo!

All in the Scotland section.
