Not a friend of women’s sport

I quite like how Alex is very loftily certain that silly-billies like Martina Navratilova and Sharron Davies are just not expert enough in women's sports, but a male human who says magic words is definitely an expert in being a woman. I wonder how he decided who to believe? 🧐

Peskysquirrel · 11/06/2024 14:32

I didn't even know this guy's name this morning and now I'm like 👀
We are watching

ScrapeMyArse · 11/06/2024 14:41

What a dick

ThreeWordHarpy · 11/06/2024 15:09

One can either assume the BBC were incompetent and didn’t do due diligence on their new employee OR they did and they fully endorse his position especially in blocking one of the most successful woman athlete in her sport in the last 50 years.

i usually go with cock-up over conspiracy but who doesn’t check the socials of a new high profile role in the media these days?! That would be a cock up of fairly hefty proportions, even by the standards of the Beeb. Perhaps they did have a look but thought no one would notice, after all it was such a long time ago (/s)

I wonder, would he change his tune if someone showed him this big long list of women who have been denied a winning place thanks to men competing in women's sports:

Sorry can someone just clarify when he blocked Martina, I'm not on twitter but I'm interested to know.

So much for impartiality

Too many public-facing gay men have been a huge disappointment. All too willing to embrace the forced-teaming with the new misogynists.

She tweeted yesterday that she'd just had a look at his X profile only to discover he'd blocked her. I suspect he's used one of the trans activist utilities that will automatically block a long list of known sex realists.

As a dyed in the wool cynic, I suspect that he doesn't care, because Inclusion.

Truthlikeness · 11/06/2024 22:27

Why is it an unlikely scenario that Russia will take advantage of this? They have an extremely long history of doping people to win medals and they are hardly alone.

Litterpicking · 12/06/2024 07:50

Have just sent a comment to the BBC via the BBC Sport app, asking if AJK still stands by his 2019 Times column and if so, why has he been appointed Head of Sport?

RebelliousCow · 12/06/2024 07:56

I suspect that the BBC knew about these guidelines some time ago and this new appointment is there to ensure BBC reporting follows those guidelines.

RoyalCorgi · 12/06/2024 08:22

It's disgraceful that the BBC would appoint as head of sport a man who has contempt for sportswomen such as Sharron Davies (herself a BBC commentator) and Martina Navratilova and indeed for female sport in general , if he thinks it's fine for men to compete in women's sport.

SinnerBoy · 12/06/2024 09:42

Yes, indeed.

and in doing so, instantly reveal, that they absolutely know they're men.

Wry · 12/06/2024 11:19

Reading the comments beneath the Telegraph article, it's noticeable that there's still a lot of confusion about what 'gender critical' actually means. Many of the commenters seem to think that gender-critical describes the TRA position, not JKR's. Also a lot of male huffing and puffing that female athletes should 'just refuse' to compete with them, and that would sort the whole issue out, quick smart.

If you don't work in an industry that's heavily Stonewalled, or you're retired, all this must seem like a weird cheese nightmare.

Dunno but he's got the same expression my DC used to have when soiling their nappy.
