I'm not sure if this has been shared already.

"I have taught in secondary schools for over 25 years. I was at school when Section 28 was introduced, and taught while it was still in place for the first seven years of my career. Until recently, I ran a school club for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. In speaking out about the dangers of trans activism, I have not been radicalised by things I have read or seen online. I am not afraid of people who identify as transgender. I feel compelled to share what I have witnessed because I care above all about the safeguarding of young people.

If you have not been immersed in a school in recent years, you may not yet have a sense of the nature and scale of the change that has taken place, and how the sudden surge in transgender identification is utterly unlike anything that has gone before. My story may help to illustrate this."

A Scandal for Schools

Rachel Evans writes as a lesbian christian secondary school teacher with over 25 years experience about why the Cass Review offers hope, not hate.

Really good piece there.

Thanks for posting this, OP. It is very interesting, well-written and though anecdotal, it feels authentic and authoritative.
The writer makes some very useful points about the differences between homophobia and transphobia, countering the myth that GC is just Section 28 all over again.
And although there are the usual depressing tales of woe of girls trying to escape to the 'freedom' of being NB or trans, the writer seems to have a good analysis of what's really going on for them, and I came away from the article a bit less hopeless [damning with faint praise? I don't intend it to be so] because knowledge is power, and the writer's insights seem to come from a place of knowledge, experience and wisdom.

Thank you for posting this. As a recently retired secondary school teacher I feel that this sums up the changing situation in schools with real understanding and sensitivity and it is extremely perceptive in its analysis of the roots of gender ideology and how and why this has all come about.
We saw our first transgender student (who was 15) in 2014 and the following year there were 6 students in one year group, and subsequently two or 3 per year group.

An excellent article and completely understandable that the writer needs to retain her anonymity. She has my gratitude for discussing this in such a measured way. Spot on.

Yes, powerful and illuminating article.

The LGB Christians site is always interesting. Not long ago they published an excellent article in which a GC Christian writer dissects 'inclusive' (ie captured, Stonewall-style) Christianity, and says it's incoherent. It's in the Blog section of the site.

Thank you - it reflects some of what I have witnessed as a parent. It’s hugely concerning

Topofthemountain · 29/05/2024 19:46

Thank you. An interesting read and very thought provoking.

Thanks OP that was fascinating.

Grammarnut · 29/05/2024 23:22

Excellent article - but frightening what is going on in some schools - and utterly clear that the trans movement is both homophobic and misogynistic.

An excellent article. This is the sort of compassionate and well-informed teacher I would love to have teaching my daughter. And thank you for the link to the LGB Christian website, I'd not heard of it before.
