He asked and I answered

Just had a Labour Party canvasser on the doorstep. Never happened before but our constituency boundary has changed and is now likely to turn red. His first question was what is the number one issue for you in the coming election? He looked quite bemused when I said that it was clarity that only those born female can be a woman....people can wear what they want but it doesn't make them a woman. He didn't nod in agreement or stay for a full on discussion.

Didn't you question him ? Last time I had a Labour canvasser at the door I did complain about there stance on TWAW. It was an older woman, so I asked her if she would be happy to share a hospital ward with EI I had to ask her 3 times before she answered. She did say no. My DH thinks they will never return 😂

ArabellaScott · 25/05/2024 14:37

I wonder if echo chambers and social media bubbles and spin have convinced politicians that most people are happy with males being put in womens prisons, children being sterilised, and lesbian being called sexual racists?

Because no. Even people who don't care much about women's rights baulk at politicians declaring some women have penises. It's the equivalent of declaring that the world is indeed flat and then being surprised that people object.

domineastronomy · 25/05/2024 14:46

But it doesn't ever come up on the doorstep...

Ginnyweasleyswand · 25/05/2024 14:56

Even Ted Cruz doesn't like serial male rapists being put in women's prisons.

Labour politicians should watch the video of Mr Cruz questioning the clearly insane democratic judge (/Aunt Lydia) over and over again and think about whether they want to be in her shoes because they will be - sooner or later.

Indeed. Cheerleading for the the removal of safeguarding for children and advocating for young people to be put on a one way path to early sterilisation and becoming a life long medical patient is never going to be a vote winner.

StirlingMallory · 25/05/2024 15:02

I'm politically homeless for this very reason.

Chewbecca · 25/05/2024 15:03

It will come up on my doorstep if our Labour candidate ever knocks and I am in. Given he is a Pride chair, a 'D&I specialist' and has written policies on trans inclusion, it should be an interesting conversation. Short I expect.

He was backing down the drive. The area we've been joined on to has a Labour female MP and she is on record with TWAW.

That's what I don't get in the case of our probably soon to be MP. She should be all over the safeguarding aspect - her previous career was primary school teacher!

I'm very sad that I'm unlikely to get doorstepped, too few houses here for them to bother, they will just drive straight past.
I'll need to keep an out out for any public events instead so I can pose my questions.

Even though he didn't agree or stay for a discussion it would have been noted.

If it is noted, it will just be filed under 'bigot'.

Edit to clarify that's the way the Labour party thinks, not the way I do.

Kucinghitam · 26/05/2024 10:52

Our Labour MP is one of the cheerleaders for special males in female spaces. Our street always gets heavily canvassed, but DH feels we shouldn't bring it up on the doorstep if we get Labour activists.

The reason being, these Righteous types have demonstrated time and again that they have zero boundaries or scruples in what they'll do to destroy Bad People - and by definition these people know our names, where we live, and it wouldn't take much Googling to see where we work.

HermioneWeasley · 26/05/2024 11:01

It came up on my bloody doorstep when a Labour canvasser called before the local elections

NiceNiche · 26/05/2024 12:48

It came up on my doorstep for recent local elections. Quite clearly said I was ex LP member, had always voted Labour, but won’t as things stand. Canvasser said that he had heard same several times that day.

I checked the result they lost the seat by 3 votes.

Don't I get to choose my own label? I would prefer feminist.

Sorry, OP, on the Special Gender Feelz get to choose their identity. The rest of us get lumbered with nonsense like Cis whatever label they want to use for us.

SqueakyDinosaur · 27/05/2024 20:12

I went to see my (Labour) MP about this a couple of years ago. The point that really landed with her was how few TW actually undergo surgical transition (I think I said "somewhere between 80-90% of TW retain their penises", which actually silenced her smooth young minder) and that there are still only about 5,000 GRCs in the entire country.

DenmarkStreet · 27/05/2024 21:04

I got the pleasure of telling my door knocker how distinctly unimpressed by Dawn Butlers response to the Cass report. Another who slowly backed away without more engagement.

I'd return the favour and send Combat 18 their home addresses.

Funny how they don't seem to want to persuade us to vote Labour.

Have you written to them to remind them of that conversation? Clearly you plus others were enough for them to lose. #notdiscussedondoorsteps clearly it is!

I disagree with this attitude and have done on here for many years. Who is your DH expecting then to take this forward? Other people? If you all hide behind anonymity then nothing will change. This cannot be left to just a few individuals. I am openly out about this issue on social media, campaigns (I always give my full name), consultations (again never anonymous). I believe in single sex space rights and the rights of (real) women to state their views. If you care about this issue then be out and open.

I disagree with him too. Unfortunately, he also lives here and is an equally valid member of the family despite clearly being mistaken about this Wink I am working on him.
