...when she is Kent's only Labour MP.

https://x.com/michaelkeohan/status/1793583173101830275 (local journalist)

As someone in the thread says, Starmer knows which bridges he could and should be building. Why does he chose not to build them? He really is signalling Labour are not to be trusted on women's rights.

As MN always says, when someone shows you who they are...

I believe Starmer and the upper echelons of Labour have done just that with Rosie. Consistently.

Some very unsavoury stuff recently about the leader of Southend Council Daniel Cowan and a female labour councillor who has alleged all sorts of things against the party there.

God, its never ending.

Labour don't need to unfortunately.

However, that's not to say given the quality of senior members of the party, things won't sour fast with them at the helm. And I will delight in their downfall when this wreaks the havoc upon them that this arrant gender nonsense has for the Scottish Government. I wish I were a better person.

EasternStandard · 23/05/2024 20:02

It’s pathetic but kind of expected by now

I doubt she’ll have a decent role after the GE as other GC politicians do

Ofcourseshecan · 23/05/2024 20:05

I noticed in the 1970s that the Labour Party, and the unions were pretty sexist. But they just seemed old-fashioned at the time, not keeping up with the progress women were making.

Now they’ve roared ahead into the science-fiction realm of ‘choose your own gender’.

And now I recognise that as plain misogyny.

ChristinaXYZ · 23/05/2024 20:11

Just in case there is anyone else who things this is just Rosie forgot to go, here's Rosie adding a heart emoji to Kathleen Stock's condemnation of Starmer and the Rosie-less Labour launch in Kent.

Starmer knows we notice and that we know. He clearly does not care that we know. He will treat us all like he treats Rosie.

Labour have far more women MPs than the Tories do, proportionately.

Why do so many women want to join & become MPs in such a awful party that want to destroy womens rights?

Its a mystery isn't it?

Not really. Women can be signed to to gender ideology as men are.

Eg Dawn Butler and co

It’s an ideology, anyone can believe if they drop fact based reality, and don’t care about privacy, dignity or fairness for women or safeguarding children

ChristinaXYZ · 24/05/2024 12:17

JKR on the subject

"It's hard not to conclude that in spite of recent attempts at back-pedalling, Keir Starmer's view on what Rosie Duffield and women in general are allowed to say about their own bodies hasn't changed since 2021."

I suspect she may have an issue with KJK's latest declaration that transpeople shouldn't be employed in various sectors. That goes beyond being GC for many people.

So you think a man should be employed as a CEO at a rape charity?

Because I'd a) be willing to bet that's the context b) that is a fair comment because of the legal exceptions under the equality act - and therefore we should actually act within those exceptions rather than saying inclusivity is about including males in these situations c) the timing points to all of the above.

I could be wrong here but there's so many attempts to smear every GC woman or say they are somehow not the right kind of GC woman I'm past the point of really buying into it without raising my eyebrows and thinking.

No.

There's a video clip in which KJK uses an example of funeral parlours & hair salons (among other workplaces) as somewhere transpeople shouldn't be employed. She says that transmen shouldn't be employed. I think she characterises them all as attention seekers or troublemakers.

HOWEVER. when I went to look for more detail, I could only find a short clip posted by a TRA group rather than the whole thing. So as I've said elsewhere, it's entirely possible a longer clip would give a better explanation. No-one seems to know where it is though

I don't understand why Rosie is sticking with the party that treats her so badly. Why doesn't she stand as an Independent? I've heard she's a popular constituency MP so wouldn't she have a good glance of getting re-elected even if she's an independent?

I think Welsh Labour are still sending thousands of pounds to Stonewall.

Of course they are.

Shitbags.

I think it must be hard to leave a political party when your life must revolve round those relationships - both job and social life. Bit like leaving a very intense church community. Once you've left you'd risk being ostracised even by private friendships. And if you believe in the main project of your party it must be even harder because you want to stay to make the economic and social changes that you believe in.

Having said all that she is obviously very hurt by Starmer's behaviour. She said on twitter, " Well, Day One has gone well then....! Strong women can't be broken that easily lads. And I have an army of them behind me, in front of me, beside me and holding me up."

I think this comes under the “ most women just don’t realise how much some men hate us” explanation. Not all men, by any means, but clearly Lloyd RM, and what did Starmer do to moderate that behaviour? Certainly no public indication that it was unacceptable in the Labour Party.

I was starting to believe that Starmer really had women’s best interests at heart, but had to fight his activists to be able to take that forward. It’s clear now that I was wrong. Starmer is every inch as misogynistic as LRM, just more slippery

I have reported the above post which was transparently inserted in order to pick up screenshots to support a claim that MN is transphobic.
