A thread regarding the situation in Italy regarding paediatric “gender” medicine

The new president of AIFA, (the Italian medicines agency), Robert Giovanni Nisticò has ordered the cessation of puberty blockers being prescribed to “dysphoric” children due to new evidence showing the permanent and harmful side effects.

The Italian Department of Health has ordered an inspection of every hospital in Italy where puberty blockers were prescribed. This is most likely to see if protocol was ignored at other hospitals and not just Careggi.

AIFA guidelines state that a child must be assessed by a neuropsychiatrist prior to puberty blockers being prescribed. This protocol was openly ignored at Careggi and it was enough for a child to declare a trans identity for PBs to be prescribed

The Careggi scandal is in the hands of the Florence prosecutor who will decide whether charges will be brought against the individual doctors, the hospital and the regional health authority.

Due to the new evidence (Cass Review) that the evidence for gender affirming care is scarce and of a low quality, from a medical legal point of view, invasive paediatric gender medicine is now completely untenable.

Similar to England, there are many private clinics offering puberty blockers to vulnerable children. This is a problem which still needs addressing but it is safe to say that sanity is returning to Italy.

It should be mentioned that many Italian doctors, especially in the south, refused to prescribe puberty blockers to children and instead chose to take a less invasive therapeutic approach.

Good to see reality based medicine has niche strongholds.

@Helleofabore
That link to Gender Clinic News is so encouraging. Thank you.
In many European countries the brakes are being firmly applied and there is now some considerable kick-back to the craziness in Germany.
Good to see the references to Cass and progress in the UK.

Bernard Lane keeps an eye on what’s happening around the world from Australia. He was perhaps one of the first journos to consistently write about it there hence starting his GCN to be able to provide a focused site for the news. His site is always a good place to start an information search.

Good to see. We should be seeing similar investigations worldwide.

This is an interesting update Red. Thanks.

I wonder if the results of the audit for the Careggi has been made public yet?

https://www.genderclinicnews.com/p/crime-scene

The audit has not been made public and is in the hands of the procura which is investigating it's findings, as yet without a specific crime or suspects.

The drug used, triptorelina, has been indefinitely suspended .

The investigation did find that the hospital (and further hospitals which were subsequently investigated too) were giving blockers willy nilly whilst not giving the psychiatric support which the law imposes on the kids. It was as if gendergp had fully infiltrated the health system here..

Hopefully the procura elevates it's.investogation to a criminal one and the judges don't meddle with it or the trial

This is all very good news. But I feel sad for all the young people who have been caught up in this and don't even realise yet what horrible consequences are in store for them as a result of having been given these experimental drugs.

I thought this was interesting. It's over 20 years since I lived in Italy, but there was a pronounced North-South divide in terms of wealth and employment, with those from the industrial North often speaking dismissively of those in the poorer, more rural South. Perhaps being working class has protected these kids.

OMG this is such good news. I hope they do prosecute these doctors and all of the therapists who enabled them. That will really help to stop the trans train in its tracks.
