Good news for trans widows and sane parents.

But it still’s goes on to say this

”It is part of a guidance update in the wake of new domestic abuse legislation and also warns of significant under-reporting of domestic abuse against victims who are men.
“Many victims will be reluctant to report offending in the fear that it may damage their reputation or pride; others may be hesitant as they fear the consequences that may ensue with their family,” it said.”

I would suggest there is still a significant under-reporting of domestic abuse against women and girls, who fear that reporting will damage their reputation, pride or the consequences for their family.

It pisses me off, this idea that women are happy to admit they are being abused.

I would imagine that under-reporting is proportional in both sexes, but the huge sex disparity is an indication that that are significantly more female victims than male, not that males are less likely to report it.

Fuck me. Comes to something when this needs to be said!

Very good point. It's incredibly difficult for most people to report.

I am very glad to see this clarified. I cannot believe that it needed to be, but this is where society is now. And how much it has moved over the past couple of years. I remember how shocked I was when I first read that spouses and family were being forcibly coerced in this way. It was abusive to ever have even suggested that misgendering would be only ever be considered ‘abuse’.

The extent to which gender ideology has permeated through and poisoned our most important institutions is enraging. Ten years ago we wouldn’t have believed that the CPS would need to make this statement (and how much time, public money and expertise were wasted on coming to this “conclusion”?) but here we are. Thanks, Stonewall et al 🤬

When this kind of statement goes out - where plainly seen evidence of sex inequality is met with overwrought attempts to dismiss it ‘Oh it can’t be as bad as this repeated, consistent disparity suggests, there must be some other reason than sex inequality’, it has the hallmarks of MRA infiltration of the CPS.

The CPS appointment of Sophie Cook may have played a part in this?

Chariothorses · 12/05/2024 17:30

yes his appointment hasn't helped. Trans lobby groups have for years tried to get wives criminalised for words and hurty feelings, and not pretending the men who got them pregnant are women (compared to males carrying out physical, sexual abuse and coercive control on female family members).

You can still see this bias in the amended CPS guidance. It still aims to punish even daughters/ elderly female relatives of men who say they are women (not just their wives) for not pretending dads / sons are women, for not wanting to get undressed in front of them, for having family photos up which the trans person objects to etc. I don't think many members of the public understand just bad life can be for family members of self obsessed transpeople behind closed doors -as media and guidance such as this centres the trans person's demands not the needs or experience of vulnerable family members.

It's not just sex offending rates https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/18973/pdf/ that don't change if a man says he's a woman, domestic abuse and coercive control are primarily sex based crimes.

My previous employer funded a report examining the increase in male victims of domestic abuse- the increase was largely in same sex (male ) relationships- ie the perpetrators were still nearly always male. But it was considered too politically sensitive to be published so it has never seen the light of day. That's not to diminish the rarer occasions where women are perpetrators- but it's frustrating trans lobbyists keep trying to pretend otherwise. I wish the government would actually release proper research and stats on it- but as we know from Jo Phoenix, facts are not wanted.

It's good news for Trans Widows, although it never should have happened in the first place

HoneyButterPopcorn · 12/05/2024 20:37

I think demanding your family pretend you have changes sex or discovered a new pronoun and bullying you into using them is abuse.

I’ve seen videos online of (usually American women) punishing mums and grans for not using the ‘correct’ pronoun or new name - yelling, squirting with water pistol…

Catsmere · 14/05/2024 06:23

Exactly what I came to say.
