Transgender prison population rises by 17%

'As in previous years, the prison population has remained as majority male, white, in their 30s, heterosexual and following the Christian faith. There was a 17% increase in the transgender prison population this year, with 268 transgender prisoners recorded in March 2023. Similar to last year’s figures, most transgender prisoners were legally male, white and held in the men’s prison estate.
There was a drop in mother and baby unit applications this year compared to last year. However, keeping to the trend of previous years, more than half of applications were approved. This report shows new data on the protected characteristics of pregnant prisoners (found in Chapter 3).'

23/24 report:

As in previous years, the prison population for the year ending March 2024 has remained as majority male, of white ethnic background, heterosexual, and reporting to follow Christian faiths. The largest proportion of prisoners are in the 30-39 age bracket.

The number of transgender prisoners recorded has continued to increase this year. As with last year, most transgender prisoners were legally male, from a white ethnic background, and held in the men’s prison estate.

The number of mother and baby unit applications has risen this year, following a drop in the previous year. Most applications with a decision outcome were approved, as with previous years. The majority of applicants and self-declared pregnant prisoners were from a white ethnic background.

A higher proportion of younger, Jewish or Muslim, heterosexual prisoners, and prisoners from a black/ black British, mixed, or other ethnic background were on basic level incentives compared to the general prison population.

A higher proportion of older, gay/ lesbian or bisexual prisoners, prisoners of Buddhist, Hindu or Sikh faith, and prisoners from an Asian/ Asian British ethnic background were on enhanced incentives compared with the general prison population.

The majority of accredited programmes starts and completions were by male, heterosexual prisoners, from a white ethnic background, who self-reported as single or not married/in a civil partnership.

In the section on transgender prisoners they say there are 295 or which 10 have a GRC.

Some people will literally do anything to get special treatment in prison. It's why so many men convert to Islam in prison (halal food is often better, permission to pray, other religion-related perks), and no doubt why so many claim they're trans. I'd be interested to know how many are still trans a year after release!

If a woman has had penis construction surgery then she can have sex/rape or make other women feel uncomfortable in a woman’s prison.

A fake penis made out of a bit of forearm and sewn onto a woman's vulva can't get hard, nor can it ejaculate.
The chances of a transman ever being able to commit "rape" are virtual non-existent.

As for If a man has had vaginal construction surgery then he can have sex/be raped in a male prison.
A man doesn't need a facsimile of a vagina for him to be a rape victim. A man still has two holes for that even with a fully functional penis of his own.

There's no reason, none whatsoever for a man who claims special gender feelz to be housed with women. It's preposterous.

So the rise in trans prisoners is way over 17% as they've not included all the men (and women) who hold a paper certificate stating they're the opposite sex? Why would that be? Embarrassment at the shocking data? Pressure from the sacred caste? Or something else?

ie 285 are self identifying or in the process ...

gender reassignment. Someone has this characteristic if they have undergone or will undergo a process for the purpose of reassigning their sex.

17% was in the 2022/23 report in the OP back in March.

The latest post in the thread links to the 2023/24 report.

It’s gone up from 268 prisoners in March 2023 (not including GRCs) to 295 in March 2024 of which 10 have a GRC.

So comparable figures are 268 (2023) and 285 (2024). A 6% increase in that twelve month period.

Interesting that they've started reporting the number with a GRC, as before the exact number wasn't disclosed.

And, let's face it, even if he was raped in his "neo front hole" - he can't get pregnant any more than if he were raped by the back door

It's just not the same risk as it is for women
Of course, it'd be better if no one got raped at all, but that's probably wishful thinking.

I think being raped anally, or in a neovagina, could be very damaging though, even though pregnancy wouldn't be a problem. Vaginal rape can also be damaging of course, but neither of the others would have the resilience or elasticity of a vagina.

Yes. Almost as if there's been a realisation that sex matters, whatever bits of paper may be waved around.

I was wondering if in fact the impact of women's sex based rights campaigns they have actually realised that self identifying is not the same as having a GRC.

And although not always, they have now accepted the men with a GRC saying they are now a "legal woman" doesn't mean it is safe for them to be placed in women's prisons.

Well yeah, women don't want to be anally raped either as it's very painful, so for a novel idea how about people with a penis are kept away from women when they're locked up, so women don't end up getting anally raped and vaginally raped and impregnated....

Coincidentally in an unrelated thread today there's an interesting link to an interview with a prison Rabbi. Apparently one of the things he commonly has to do is determine whether a prisoner claiming to be Jewish is telling the truth.

What's relevant to this thread is that he said there weren't really any perks to being treated as Jewish - the kosher food wasn't better than the standard meals for example - so he felt their motivtaion was often just simply to get one over the system. It wasn't what they got out of it that was important, it was simply that they had beaten a rule.

I'm sure at least some of the prison onset trans women are doing it for the same reason.
