OU's review following Phoenix case involves a full-on trans ally

Professor Dame Nicola Dandridge has been employed to carry out a review of the OU following Prof Jo Phoenix's employment tribunal victory, where the judge made some very damaging findings about the quality and veracity of the OU's long list of witnesses and (and, by implication, their credentials to be academics).

Assisting Prof Dame ND will be Smita Jamdar, a specialist in educational institutions, whose TwitterX timeline is full of pronouns, pro-trans statements and a declaration that she's an ally. Maya Forstater has laid it all out on TwitterX.

I can't see those words anywhere in her feed (although could well have missed them as there are many similar replies!)

She says that the OU edited the announcement and did not acknowledge the edit. This also seems to be a simple description - i.e. the post on the OU's news feed doesn't indicate that it has been edited at any point. I would personally not use the words "dirty edit" - but it is reasonable to say that the OU (1) has edited its post and (2) has not acknowledged this fact. (Publicly at least. Presumably there are also internal comms about this.)

Rainbowshit · 11/05/2024 13:34

Can you back up your accusations of racism @FeministAcademic ?

Rainbowshit · 11/05/2024 13:38

Hmm funny. The only reference I could see to "dirty edit" was from someone other than Almut. Also couldn't see any reference to race in her tweets.

Seems you are the one doing the smearing here.

So lets see if I can follow the logic.

If I am assaulted or an assault attempt is made towards me by a member of the opposite sex and I have no concrete proof of this... I am sexist?

I wonder what we are being distracted from by these unsubstantiated claims?

Maybe it's the fact the the OU thought that it was OK to have someone who is biased be part of a review that is looking into the very subject that they are biased about?

Quite.

This is really weak and desperate, "Feminist" Academic.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/05/2024 13:51

This isn't the first time Almut Gadow has been smeared by random, anonymous OU employees on FWR.

I have noticed that, too

RainWithSunnySpells · 11/05/2024 13:55

I know you never said she was sexist. 🙄

I have concluded that your logic is illogical and that your arguments are weak. If you want to change my mind, you will need to show receipts of Almut actually saying the things that you accuse her of.

Until then I will focus on the OU and their review.

borntobequiet · 11/05/2024 14:05

cishet women

Why not just say straight women, which people might understand?

What is a cis woman?

Rainbowshit · 11/05/2024 14:39

I just don't understand what they are thinking. They've already got into serious trouble from taking advice from people with an obvious bias against gender critical views. Why make the same mistake again?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/05/2024 16:52

Agree @Rainbowshit

No thought required! Bigotry requires you not to do so.

#NoThought

It's even catchier than #NoDebate.

Every time someone pops up to slur I am reminded that Almut Gadow - standing against indoctrination and for academic freedom shows a garden that would benefit from extra plants.

The first time someone even pretended they were Almut. I think one of the people was claiming to be a student who got a bad grade on a paper?

I'll be doing a bit more planting sometime.

Yes! Written in the same illogical, belligerent style we have seen upthread

Well quite. If you make a mistake once that can be forgiven: twice it looks like you're an idiot who shouldn't be in post.

SinnerBoy · 12/05/2024 08:36

FA reminds me of the Daily Mail BTL commentators, who, on reading of a man being acquitted of rape, shriek:

"Now lock the lying bitch up, give her what he'd have got!"

InvisibleBuffy · 12/05/2024 09:13

From what I can tell, the charge of racism comes from disagreeing with someone who is Asian which is an incredible stretch.
Of course, that's from someone who'll use the incredibly sexist term 'cis' to describe a woman.

StealthSpinach · 13/05/2024 09:54

What definition of ‘Feminist’ does someone ascribe to when their vocabulary and speech degrade females by use of the words “cis” and “cishet”? It definitely isn’t a type of feminism I associate with.
