Protest to “reclaim” a women’s swimming pond on Hampstead Heath plaaned for July.

Campaigners are planning a protest to “reclaim” a women’s swimming pond on Hampstead Heath amid a row over access for transgender women.

Transgender women, including men identifying as women, have been allowed to use the Kenwood Ladies Pond since 2010.

A member of the Kenwood Ladies Pond Association (KLPA) proposed changing the group’s constitution ahead of its AGM in March “so that only those born female in sex can use the pond”.

That bid was defeated when some three quarters of around 200 people who voted at the AGM chose to continue allowing trans women to swim at the pond.

Now a protest against the decision, described as a live performance, is planned to take place on July 28.

What does this sentence mean? The author seems confused.

I think the author like many in the press is struggling with trying to report facts but knowing that reporting facts could lead to complaints against them for being transphobic.

Good luck to them. It remains really sad that the women’s pond is so wedded to men’s rights that protest is necessary.

It's enraging, men already have two ponds to use! Why do they need a third (I know the answer).

@JudasButler1 I think author is thinking transwomen have had surgery and men who identify as women have not.... that's how it reads to me - they're trying to avoid using the word penis 😂

I've been trying to find the threads about the original protests.

I thought this was where "man friday" started or have I totally misrememberd.

When I search nothing comes up.

I think they meant to say

“All communities - except one and you know who you are you cervix owning dinosaurs who don’t care that you are literally condemning people to death with your selfish insistence that only women are women - should be respected.”

Just another wishing them good luck with this. I used to live near to Hampstead Heath. It’s outrageous that this was ever allowed to happen. Unfortunately I live too far away now to be there physically but I wish I could be.

I'd like to attend the protest if possible but I can't find any proper information about it. If anyone can give me some contact info I'd be very grateful

Ah the last GC person who attempted this at the meeting was howled down. Keep your biases away from those enjoying the ponds in peace. Or show up and be embarrassed again. Every time this stuff comes out, it shows GC for the ideology that it is. Happy days!

Imagine crowing about women no longer being able to access their own pond. How many Jewish and Muslim women swim there now?

Men can still use the mens pond, of course. Thats still single sex.
