What are the implications for the Cass Review outside schools, e.g. for charities?

Another thread, another name change.

I work in a charity which works with teenage girls both in and out of schools, some under 16. Safeguarding is clearly huge for us, as we could be closed down if we get it wrong.

So what does safeguarding mean now in the context of Cass? This applies for us in two specific ways? One is how do we deal with social transition? Do we need to be sure that the young woman is not doing this without the knowledge of parents?

Secondly, if we put out literature referring to 'girls and non-binary people' is this tacitly encouraging social transition?

I've asked this question of a specific safeguarding organisation and they don't know, and are thinking about it, so I'd be interested in the hive mind's perspective.

I don't have an answer to your question, but bumping this hoping someone who does know will notice.

I am interested in this too, for a conversation I am having with an organisation for children. I am also interested more generally in where safeguarding oversight comes from for this type of organisation

@PaleBlueMoonlight I can answer some general safeguarding stuff around charities and young people if that’s helpful.

Hapoy to talk via DM if that’s easier
