'Women in the north-west of England say they feel unsafe after videos taken of them on nights out without their knowledge have gained millions of views on social media and attracted a slew of misogynistic comments.
Police say they are now actively trying to catch the person making the videos.
They are asking anyone who has been filmed to come forward.'

Fuck this noise.

The irony of this happening in the most CCTV'd country on the planet isn't lost on me

Ffs! Although somehow it reminds me of the MN Corpus. If they catch the person, they should say they're doing a PhD.

It seems there have been reports of a man wearing 'Rayban' style glasses with a hidden camera in them.

'Greater Manchester police (GMP) said woman had reported seeing a man wearing Ray-Ban-style glasses with a hidden camera inside.
While filming people on a public street is not illegal, it becomes criminal when it constitutes harassment.'

...Rayban' style glasses with a hidden camera in them ...

All sounds super sinister, until you realise you can buy them ... from Ray Ban.

Oh I saw those on YouTube. At first I thought it was a fashion show but then I realised it was real life.
So can they be flagged or is it another thing young women have to put with because it doesn’t meet the thresh hold of upskirting or something?
And I doubt it’s only one guy doing it.

I saw a man filming teenage girls in a shopping centre,I went to see a security guard immediately, he was totally disinterested.

I'm so very glad I was young before mobile phones were invented 🙄

It would only be harassment if he targeted specific women on a regular basis though? Or if he made comments to / about them in the street. IANAL but I understood that filming in public, including the filming of police officers, is not illegal where there’s no element of indecency (eg upskirting).

What’s the difference between what he’s doing and the pics and video the Daily Fail post up on their website on a pretty regular basis? They invite comment there too. It’s a pretty regular ‘feature’ for their site.

Not saying the Fail’s behaviour is any better, but this bloke isn’t any worse than they are - how is one ‘journalism’ and the other a campaign of harassment?
