Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

How did the Scandi countries get there before us? What happened? And how did it happen?

I hadn't realised until the recent CASS coverage that Finland and Sweden had already made hormones the treatment of last resort, and led with psychotherapy - I think I've got that right....

If so, HOW did this happen and how did they avoid the chaos and groupthink that we have plunged into as a nation?

I would love to know more so all resources and thoughts VERY welcome!!

That makes sense, they probably need someone with a Swedish license to practice in order to be able to restart peddling testosterone to Swedish teens.

Surely no one is stupid enough to risk their professional licence for a freelance, piecework, commission only job at GenderGP?

Oh I don't know, there are probably a lot of doctors around who believe in the cause, and it wouldn't be that easy to find out unless they get reported, which they might not be for a loooong time. I wouldn't say it's easy getting a doctor struck off, like.

That is really weird, Banivani. They’ve seen the harms, done the research, recognised the problems. And then going full steam ahead to self-ID???

Or are they only worried about the medicalisation of children?

No problem ditching women’s rights, increasing male sex predators’ access to women and children, and erasing women as a sex class. That’s disappointing.

Edited

I think this reveals a danger in the UK.

A country may back-track on the medicalization of children without really repudiating gender ideology.

A Finnish expert at one of the biggest clinics was interviewed by various media about turn in treatment protocols for minors
https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/science/articles/finland-youth-gender-medicine
Her name is Dr. Riittakerttu Kaltiala, there are a couple more interviews and videos on youtube from last year.
From her study, 4 our of 5 non-transitioned children/teenagers later grow out of the feeling.
There were some more findings and the realization that the hormone treatments were on extremely thin ice due to lacking data for decision-making, similar to the findings in the Cass report.

Well, we now have basically self-ID since yesterday. It should be noted that you need a doctor's and psychologist's note to get it, but considering how effective safeguarding has been in the old system I don't have high hopes. I agree @TempestTost , if you don't see the whole scope of gender ideology you treat the different pieces of the puzzle as, well, different pieces, and while they may baulk at hormones for children the "legal gender" bit is seen as a "small kindness".

Fascinating thread... agree with "different boxes" and self ID/women's rights seen as different box to child abuse/puberty blockers
