The notable MPs in this debate

Off the back of the HoC debate, can we compile a list of the MPs who distinguished themselves both for good and bad? Those who nailed their colours to the mast?

From David Davies, conservative, who hosted the first group of women trying to bring this to MPs attention, to
Lloyd Russell Moyle, labour, who feels both sides were toxic….
Kemi Badenoch, conservative, clarifying the law on women and equality
Rosie Duffield, labour.

I think it’s helpful to see who has had women’s backs. My MP is thoroughly unpopular on MN, but he quietly has women’s backs on this issue.

Angela Eagle is Labour

When the first WPUK fringe meeting took place at Labour conference and a mob was whipped up from the conference stage to go and shout abuse at women and bang on the windows, Thangam Debbonaire was the only Labour MP who spoke out.

Brilliant article, thank you. It takes me back- I think it was around those times I started paying attention. Perhaps a little earlier as I remember everything the article mentions.

Well done those women.

I was trying to remember Anne Ruzylo’s name when Maddigan came up again the other day.

I do hope she’s ok.

Lucas is a true believer. I'm not sure why she gets a free pass.

I was surprised someone upthread thought otherwise.

Good for Thangam Debonnaire (labour). I hadn’t heard of her.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Vicky Foxcroft is also my MP. I have emailed her twice about this but received no reply.

Jackie Doyle conservative
Angela Eagle and Ben Bradshaw conservative.

Penny Mordaunt is GI, isn’t she? Conservative? Not particularly vocal recently, perhaps sees which way the wind blows and trying to stay out of it.

Angela Eagle and Ben Bradshaw are both Labour MPs

I went to see her a few years ago. She'd had several letters from various female constituents and offered to see us as a group. She listened, but her response was very much 'good people on both sides', 'let's all be kind' etc etc.

That was a total typo/brain fart. Thanks for correcting that.

Does anyone know what happened to Lily Madigan? Last I remember he had been accused of sexual harassment of a fellow student. There was the other individual, Jess Bradley who I think was was exposing himself in a park and in the university. Both seem to have disappeared. It was reading about those two individuals on MN that made me take notice as my youngest was looking at universities at the time. I had no clue about any of this before then.

I imagine a name change in both cases. Possibly also a change of continent, and perhaps even a reversion to presenting as their natal sex with consequent name change. LM was accepted onto the Politics degree course at Goldsmiths with unimpressive academic qualifications and a generous allowance made for life experience, IIRC. Nothing LM ever said on social media gave the impression of a strong academic brain. Given this plus the allegations mentioned above, I'd be amazed if LM ever actually graduated.

Chariothorses · 16/04/2024 14:06

Liam Fox is Tory (forgot to say).
Wes Streeting (Labour) is the 1st MP to publically admit he was wrong to say 'Transwomen are women'. (Not sure if he means wrong to say it, or wrong because it isn't true- bit worrying if a Health Secretary lies about the 2 sexes).

AGlinnerOfHope · 16/04/2024 15:43

Some really poor behaviour here. And a shortage of upstanding people!

It is great that Westminster have shown a lead. Now it is for constituency MPs to do their bit.

This is a good example of MP action in a county where schools and youth groups seem impossibly captured. (Thanks Chris Loder.)

Charity slammed for urging young people to use puberty blockers

EXCLUSIVE: Space Youth Project in Dorset has been accused by MP of West Dorset Chris Loder of targeting vulnerable young people.

Joanna Cherry SNP has been very good.

TheLongpigs · 16/04/2024 18:30

Danny Kruger. Has been writing about this issue for year in support of women.

Chariothorses · 18/04/2024 07:49

Nick Fletcher (Tory) has consistently spoken up- and he was also the only one to raise safeguarding issues in Parliament about men making baby children of transitioners suck their nipples in Parliament, at a time when everyone else was too scared to.
Yvette Cooper (Labour) has been useless (which I am personally disappointed about)-I assume as her son is a TRA.

mellongoose · 18/04/2024 08:11

There are some who aren't as outspoken but if you check their feeds have been pretty solid for a long time. Mostly Conservatives but Angela Richardson, Laura Farris, Cherilyn Mackrory, Baroness Jenkin, Caroline Johnson.

Sausagenbacon · 18/04/2024 08:18

David T Davies, mp for Monmouth. An early , and steadfast supporter of gc women.

WhistPie · 18/04/2024 13:15

Siobhan McDonagh (Labour) did say that men don't have a cervix whilst being interviewed a year or so back - she was also sitting next to Rosie Duffield during the Cass debate
