Possibility to text (84844) or phone (03700 100 444) now to express views on Cass report and what government should do.

Didn't catch the intro, but sounds like it's mainly going to be about Israel and Iran. Did catch a bit about the Cass report on Any Questions .

At the start Anita Anand specifically invited calls on the subject.

You might have noticed that the question last night was about protecting young people with the context of the Cass Review report in the background, rather than discussing the report as such. I think they were pleased to do that rather than, I suspect, lots of other directly-focused questions they received from the audience.

Any Answers tends to be even more averse to engaging with trans issues than Any Questions, although I'm hoping today will be an exception.

MagpiePi · 13/04/2024 14:45

Anita was asking for people who have direct experience of 'the issue' to get in touch.

Oh - they've finshed without getting on to it.

nauticant · 13/04/2024 14:45

Anita Anand breathes a sigh of relief having got to the end of the programme without getting on to Cass.

As a further outrage, it's now The Archers. It is WRONG to have The Archers in the middle of Saturday afternoon.

I stupidly told someone I was going to be late as I wanted to hear what people had to say about the Cass report it had been raised.

But have to say (which i keep forgetting) Any Answers no longer serves the purpose it was intended to do.

It seems to have crept in with Anita Anand, but may have already happened.

She is so endless curating and commentating when all she has to do is say the next caller is "Angry Mumsnetter, welcome and just to remind you you have 3 minutes to make your point".

But with all tv and radio presenters now they think they are the story.

I was in fact surprised they gave so much time to the conflict in Gaza because in previous weeks (assuming calls taken on air are representative in terms of numbers who called in of the differenct issues raised in AQ) when is previous weeks they have had none. Or the now infamous week when the first women one burst into tears about the situation and then suddenly there were no phone lines until 5 minutes before the end of the show.

Sorry a bit off topic, but I feel so stupid to have delayed going out.

Hours on Gaza (I think it is an important issue) with silly AA trying to get people with opposing views to talk to each other (bonkers).

And I just dont believe other people didn't ring in about the Cass report including not doubt a lot of TRAs.

And yet somehow the programme implied nobody thought it worth discussing.

I think they should be made to say in terms of total calls what % were on each topic raised in AQ (and how many minutes were lost to AA inance pondings).

If the BBC isn't brave enough once a week for 45 minutes to allow members of the public to air their opinions without being steered by some over paid presenter, then in terms of being a Public Service Broadcaster they have failed on the very basics.

Cannot bear listening to Anita Anand with her constant interruptions and efforts to railroad the contributions of listeners. She needs to learn to speak succinctly and to stop repetition of ‘you know, you know’ - not professional.
