Cass Report - Reaction from Lib Dems, Greens, SNP etc.

There's already a thread about Labour's reactions to Cass.

What about the other centrist/left wing parties?

I've just had a quick snoop at some Lib Dems' Twitter profiles. I looked up Ed Davey, Layla Moran, Tim Farron, Sarah Olney and Wera Hobhouse.

Not one of them has reacted to the publication of the Cass report or ever tweeted anything containing the word "Cass".

Most of them have been suspiciously quiet on trans issues recently; again, in most cases I can't find any recent tweets containing the word "trans" other than in the context of the Trans-Pacific Partnership or the TransPennine Express.

The not-so-honourable exception is Wera Hobhouse, who quote tweeted Pink News yesterday saying, "70% of trans people face transphobia when accessing general health services. People need to be able to access vitak gender-affirming healthcare. Yet the Conservatives are intent on using their lives to fuel a culture war and create even more barriers to life-saving services." NO MENTION of Cass whatsoever.

Let's look at the Greens.

Caroline Lucas has also never tweeted about Cass. No tweets about trans issues this week but fairly regular tweets making general comments about transphobia and transphobic hate and accusing the Tories of stoking a culture war.

Same story for Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsay.

I can't be bothered to Twitter stalk half the SNP but it's the same story for Humza Yousaf as well.

All these people have been tweeting about anything and everything except Cass for the last two days.

At least Labour isn't pretending nothing has happened.

TL;DR: As far as I can see there has been absolutely zero reaction from these parties.

The Greens Party of England and Wales will implode on this as it has been slowly but surely and totally captured by their all powerful LGBTIQA+ Greens and Young Greens "social justice" transgender warriors. Their long march into the party kicked off with Aime Challenor's motion " trans women are women, trans men are men ...." adopted by its self-appointed Conference participants in 2016. Cass's report findings and recommendations will require a fundamental review of every single one of its gender ideology policies since then. Neither non-binary co-leader Carla Denyer , nor former leader and Brighton Pavilion parliamentary candidate Sian Berry and the majority of elected members serving on the Executive and the Regional Council will be able to continue with their mandates as they will have to confess to the errors of their ways. Cass's recommendations pose an existential threat to the party.

Green women have written this letter to their leaders

No one can talk openly about Cass as it breaks the Queerphobia guidelines

😶

Fenlandia · 12/04/2024 18:54

Useless lot - don't they want distressed kids to have evidence-based, compassionate treatment? Don't they want kids who do not persist with a trans identity to grow into adults unharmed by medical interventions they didn't need?

J97King · 12/04/2024 18:55

I often write to Sarah Olney about women's rights and she continually deflects the question and talks about something else.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/04/2024 19:06

All stuck on the wrong side of history without a moral compass. 😑

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 12/04/2024 19:07

The Lib Dems have had sizeable donations from companies which make puberty blockers, haven't they?

That's what I would call a conflict of interests.

That's the line that hit me hardest too.

They’re all hoping it will go away.

Disappointing but not surprising.

What I really can't understand about the Greens is that 'transitioning' would seem to me to be the opposite of an environmentally friendly way of living.
The aesthetic surgery (surgery has a huge climate footprint.) Artificial hormones produced, packed in plastic and excess excreted and entering the sewage system. The blue hair dye...

What happened to principles such as 'tread lightly' on the planet?!

WarriorN · 12/04/2024 20:28

Quite.

I remember a previous male leader of the women's group celebrating the "end of sex based rights" in the Green Party in one tweet and banging on about sparkly nail polish in the next.

ArabellaScott · 12/04/2024 20:32

I have such admiration for the Green Party Women. Fierce, compassionate, intelligent.

The GPEW does not deserve them. It's been taken over by smooth chatting ideologues with no integrity, and I don't honestly see it surviving much longer.

I believe they want to change the world and anything that upsets the current order is fair game. In Scotland the Greens are very pro self ID etc.

Have you never seen Dylan Mulvaney skipping through a meadow?

WarriorN · 13/04/2024 08:34

The deep green resistance know men can't be women and Derek has written at length about how it's peak misogyny to say it is.

nicotina3 · 13/04/2024 17:23

The Greens have long abandonned their original grounding in evidence based science in all aspects of their policies as well as demography.

SpringCalling · 13/04/2024 17:27

@J97King me too - a real shame as when I met her she seemed intelligent and competent. But no engaged response when I've raised this with her either.

They just self-identify this crap as ‘green’ and environmentally responsible.

J97King · 13/04/2024 17:36

I have never had any luck with her/ her office. I know it's unfair to compare, but Zac Goldsmith took a huge interest in an issue concerning my daughter and drove it to the nth degree. I guess I want to see some passion in her responses but I just don't. She always sounds like she is fobbing me off.

WarriorN · 13/04/2024 19:32

Anything from the women's party or what ever it's called? The one that shat on Heather.
