Boots — “period products”

Apparently the change happened a while ago but I have only recently noticed Boots has changed its “feminine hygiene” section to “period products”, presumably because periods are no longer the preserve of females?

That’s much better; far more appropriate description. Feminine hygiene suggests periods and female body parts are unhygienic. And usually products for incontinence are in that aisle; which everyone might need

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 26/03/2024 13:30

Femfresh belongs in the "allergens and irritants" aisle.

Much better to use the word period. And it covers heated rubs and patches etc as well. Nothing to do with hygiene but are period related.

Thread not going how you thought, OP? 😄

I hate this kind of gleeful shite. I'm also in the pro "period products" camp, but what's the purpose of this kind of mean-spirited gloaty sneering?

ManchesterBeatrice · 26/03/2024 14:04

@FineWordsButterNoParsnips I thought that 🤣👏

Absolutely prefer period products, that is exactly what they are. Feminine hygiene is such a weird old fashioned phrase

ThereIbledit · 26/03/2024 14:28

Yeah another who prefers period products in terms of language used to be honest.

BloodyHellKenAgain · 26/03/2024 15:18

I have a very low tolerance to any bollocks about women magically 'becoming' men and vice versa but I'm glad of the name change.

Feminine hygiene sounds soooo old fashioned and insinuates that periods are somehow unhygienic. It's a bit 'maiden aunt'. See also 'sanitary towels' which has my daughters hooting with laughter.

Period products is to the point and perfect IMO.

Dads and partners might stand a chance of locating them now instead of standing bewildered and eventually bringing home incontinence pads (or those awful scented panty liners).

Who? Who is buying the scented thrush inducers? Own up!

I bought some one by accident, but I took them back unopened and got a refund. They are the devils work.

SirChenjins · 26/03/2024 15:22

I prefer it - and it moves the issue away from the idea that anyone with feminine feelz might need them.
