Women in STEM - ✅
"Female - identifying" ❌

So anyone who has an idea they feel female ... what for the day? Week?

Particularly galling as this seems to be a maths and science school.

Such clunky phrasing as well, own goal scored.

Girls ... girls is the word you are looking for Surrey maths school!

Female-identifying student..

This is really disturbing!

I was going to say that surely transing children behind their parents' backs is against the new schools KCSIE guidelines, but I realised I'm not sure whether it is in force?

Yes, this email was sent to the previous student in 2022. As far as I know, it hasn’t been sent out this year, which I thought may be because of the guidance. But seeing how passionate the teachers are about gender ideology, I don’t feel confident that if a student says to them they want to change their pronouns but their parent wouldn’t approve, that the school would inform the parents. I would guess it’s more that they haven’t sent the email so there isn’t evidence that they are doing that as it’s against the guidance. I am looking out for it, though.

Do I have this right? Courses in STEM subjects for girls are specifically worded to be open to trans girls, ie boys whose self identification is screaming in CAPITALS that they don't understand science and don't believe in it.

Yep, and same with the teachers

@WYorksGCTemp by the way, I assume you know but I checked and the head of Leeds Maths School, Robert Wilne, used to be a teacher at King’s, and Lead Teacher of Outreach. It seems the heads of the maths schools all come from King’s. Also, I’m sure when I looked at his X profile the other day he had his pronouns there, but when I looked just now they’re not 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks @PilarT we did know that he was from King's, but it's good to highlight it to other readers! Last year his email to potential students had pronouns in his signature, we'll see if they are still there this year. I haven't even thought to look on X Grin

This reminds me of the Grace Hopper tech conference for women last year, that was somehow composed of 40% men, who self identified as women, but only so far as ticking a box whilst filling in the attendance form.

It’s completely unfair to include trans identifying males, as I’m pretty sure any actual analysis would show that they’re over, rather than under represented in tech as it is.
