Imminent court case: 16+ year olds being fast-tracked

There have been a few threads mentioning this in the past but, with the date fast approaching for the hearing (26th March) I thought it worth starting a new one.

Originally started by Ritchie Heron and a different parent, Anna Castle and Ms C are two parents of adolescent girls who are caught up in this. They are challenging the fast-tracking of 16 and 17 year olds on to the adult "gender affirming care" pathway. This pathway bypasses psychological gates (which are pretty ineffective in the way they are delivered - see Cass Review - but "better" than none) and puts them straight on to the WPATH-aligned adult pathway. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the latest news on the WPATH files and the WHO and NHS pulling away (slowly) has an influence on this case. They are having to go to appeal to have their case heard.. So it's still hanging in the balance unfortunately.

If anyone has gardening funds, I'm sure they would be welcomed.

I'll dig out some links with more info when I get chance. Transgender Trend has done a good write-up on it.

In the meantime, I've tried to add the link to the fund page but I'm not sure if it's allowed (it's currently hidden, pending checking)

I have seen funding links but very rarely. I think you can post the name of the site and the title being used, which will help people find it.

If it's Crowdfunder, to anyone donating remember you can edit the donation to remove the garnish that will otherwise be given to Crowdfunder.

Thank you @nauticant ❤️

I started the thread not long before heading out so just adding a bit more now.

Obviously all the info will be in the linked thread but here's a quick link to the background for the case too:

If you scroll down to the end, you can find the link to the original comms that Transgender Trend sent out and also one from Ritchie Heron explaining why the case had to be transferred over. He mentioned it in his interview on the WPATH at the weekend (Andrew Doyle's 2 hour special) so is obviously keeping a keen interest in it.

17-yr-olds to be fast tracked to adult gender services by the NHS - Transgender Trend

17 yr-olds on the Tavistock GIDS waiting list have been sent a letter from the NHS inviting them to be referred to adult gender services.

Realised I should remove the ambiguity in my first paragraph.

It's the appeal on the 26th, to allow the hearing to take place. From the gardening website, below the most recent update, this is what is being appealed:

We have now heard from the Court that we have been denied permission to proceed to a full trial.

The case itself will be heard at a later date at the full trial, assuming (🤞🤞) the appeal is successful.

Also, some sobering words from the latest update:

Two-thirds of patients in adult clinics are 25 or under. 17 year olds are the largest single group referred to adult clinics. And the NHS's recent changes to the adolescent referral system will direct even more teenagers to these adult clinics.

In other words, the majority of the people who are seeking the faster adult pathway are arguably too young to understand the implications of what they are doing to their bodies, given the brain doesn't fully develop an adult understanding of risk an consequence until typically >25 years old 😔

You're not allowed to link any crowdfunders directly, this originated from people scamming money out of other people elsewhere on MN, not FWR. It applies to the whole site.

Ah, OK. Makes sense.

The info above should help to find it for anyone who wants to read more about the case or contribute.

Giving this a bump. The appeal hearing is 2pm tomorrow.

There was some coverage about it on Free Speech Nation too.

Well worth a watch as Sue Evans (Tavistock whistleblower) was also in the panel of interviewees. She speaks so well on this, having come from a background of clinical care in this field.

Is this the case? It’s been adjourned until 23 May to wait for the final Cass Report. Submissions will then be made again.
