Dr Bell is a very clear speaker - glad he took the reins and steered the conversation away from “what about the 2%” (be nice) to facts and clinical practices.

I’d like to hear more from him.

Dr David Bell is an old voice and he spoke clearly today about experimental puberty blockers damaging children. Radio 4 PM, segment starts about 5:05 pm with Hannah Barnes first, then Bell-- full on and on fire!!

Thanks for the recommendation. I gave up on PM a while ago because it seemed to have turned into a lightweight chatshow but I'll have a listen.

Something that I think is relevant to this thread - I'm sure it's been mentioned before - is how old voices (especially old, female voices) when ignored or censored have led to safeguarding failures in the past. I believe this was the case with Jimmy Saville and more knowledgeable posters will no doubt have other examples.

Karensalright · 12/03/2024 19:09

@ILikeDungs must listen to that, thanks.

Have started noting the user names of the Terribly rabidly annoyed when they appear on this place as they complain to MNHQ.

Think some terribly rabidly annoyed are lurking because they are pissed off with the NHS about puberty blockers, on the main news tonight.

Not that i have an opinion on that and erm protecting stronghold cupboards.

Peskysquirrel · 12/03/2024 19:12

You are absolutely right @Leafstamp

Meanwhile, to lighten the mood... here are some older female voices just doing their thing and making some noise!

The horMones hope to encourage other non-musicians to "make some noise" later in life.

Yes, 100%. We need to remember this, when we feel cowed.

David Bell was awesome on that interview. ED trying to steer him in a direction, he was having none of it. He was super super clear that children have been given the wrong treatment. Also that this ban is the best thing for ALL children as a policy. Also that concern remains about the 17-25 year bracket. I loved the way that ED introduced him, and then he asked if he could introduce himself "more fully" - he is wonderful.

Getting excited at the thought of Langcleg having maybe sneaked back on here...

Karensalright · 12/03/2024 20:03

Think Posie Parker lurks too.

domineastronomy · 12/03/2024 20:06

Ooooooh

Tontostitis · 12/03/2024 20:09

I always wondered if PP was LangCleg

Karensalright · 12/03/2024 20:10

Shhh

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 12/03/2024 20:22

It's always unsettling when there are threads pulled because of where they are rather than what they say - amazing how some fair better in sunlight whilst others thrive in the "shadows" of FWR

I miss LC & Bewilderness on here but not the bloody wheatabix nightmares

domineastronomy · 12/03/2024 20:35

There are at least half a dozen posters who could be LangCleg if I think about it.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 12/03/2024 21:03

Which thread was pulled?

Karensalright · 12/03/2024 21:09

@JayAlfredPrufrock a post about a person working in a nursery and safeguarding, followed by a post about that post about censorship, followed by a post called hmmm.

nothing to do with us anti transphobes here of course.
