>70% trans prisoners = imprisoned for sex offences or violent crimes

This Telegraph Article rightly makes it clear that of course there’s no suggestion all transgender people are violent &/or disposed to commit sex crimes.

The England & Wales Census saw 0.1% of the population identify as TW & 0.1% as TM. Assuming that 0.2% of the population is a reasonably accurate measure, 0.3% of the UK’s trans population is currently in prison. In June 2023 (last date for which stats were available) 0.11% of the UK population were in prison. Given the number of cases we’ve seen where being trans is apparently considered a mitigating factor sufficient that no custodial sentence is given; eyebrows must be raised at this, to say the least.

Males simply do not belong in the female estate. No matter their internal sense of self. The sooner this mess gets fixed the better.

There was a recent statistic, hopefully some one can link it, to show that actually men identifying as women far outstrip other men as sexual offenders in terms of per capita offender stats.
It's reasonable to say that women statistically are more at risk from transwomen so lucky they are only a tiny percentage of the population.

The sooner we get to a society where there are men and women and anyone can dress in any clothes, present however they like, wear makeup or not if they like, then the sooner all the gender and identity bollocks will die out.

I have come across some posters this week who simply cannot or choose not to understand the need to assess risk for safeguarding. They acknowledge that this sub group of men do jot change sex. But they cannot acknowledge that they don’t automatically assume the risk profile of the female population. To them, this sub group assume a magic position of exemption from being assumed a risk

It defies rational thinking and it is dangerous. Some of these posters work with teenagers with significant mental health difficulties. And couldn’t recognise safeguarding principles.

This statistic is not going away. It needs to be considered carefully because it is highlighting significant issues whichever way it is approached.

This one?

The MoJ say that "Well over 90 per cent of transgender women in custody are held in the men’s estate" and that " transgender women who’ve been convicted of sexual or violent offences – or who retain male genitalia – cannot be held in a women’s prison unless in truly exceptional circumstances.” In other words we have a rule but feel free to break it because........

So there are 244 trans inmates (is that the total or are those with a GRC counted as "women" so the number is actually larger)? There are 20? 22? 24? men claiming to be women in the women's estate. And some or even all may be convicted of sexual or violent offences because of these "truly exceptional circumstances" 😑

Plus the wording in the census was so poor that the number of trans-identifying people is strongly suggested to be an overestimate, as people with low literacy or low English proficiency didn't understand the question. Which means that the proportion of TW who have commited sex offences is likely to be higher than shown.

Plus, as PP noted, a trans identity has sometimes meant that an offender has not been given a custodial sentence when that was a possible sentence for their crime, so again, the number of TW in custody may be an underrepresentation of the number of offenders claiming to be TW.

Menomeno · 25/02/2024 18:38

Sex offenders will suddenly start identifying as female because they’ll be kept separate from male prisoners and won’t be beaten up. That doesn’t really make them trans, they’re just men playing the system, which will obviously skew the true numbers of trans female sex offenders.

Where's that screenshot from @Waitwhat23

It's all over - I think I got it from my Twitter group or on here.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/02/2024 18:53

I avoid Twitter so that's why!

Thanks.

IIRC, The stats are derived from either a FOI or a request for such numbers from a MP - I have read the report in full previously but can't find it again! If I find it, I will post it.

The source is on the image if you enlarge it - the source is HM Prison stats and the census

Waitwhat23 · 25/02/2024 19:22

I don't think the archive link works anymore. I'm fairly sure the stats were given in response to a question asked in Parliament by Kenny MacAskill -

Thanks all, I appreciate it.

Yes variations of that image have been on twitter since the census data came out, when for the first time it was possible to give a rough estimate of the rate of TW sexual offenders using official data.

TRAs will tell you its been 'thoroughly debunked' but the threads i've seen trying to dispute the stars tend to be pretty weak. E.g. one argument was sex offences here could include prostitution and TW are over represented in sex trade and disproportionately targeted by police.

NitroNine · 28/02/2024 23:02

@nothingcomestonothing I used only the numbers for those who IDed as TW/TM in the census - 0.2% rather than the total 0.5% figure which we know was inflated due to the poorly constructed question. The number may be slightly off, but not enough for significant distortion.

Those individuals who are not given custodial sentences [Because Most Vulnerable] (as mentioned in my OP) may indeed be numerous enough to alter the picture rather than being noise/statistically insignificant, given the population size involved. If anyone has the time & inclination to do a sift of Trans Crime UK they could come up with more accurate stats on eg rates of sexual offending. The number of men who say they’re women allowed to repeatedly breach SHPOs is really quite distressing - no idea how it compares to men who don’t claim to be women, but do wonder if the utter absurdity of putting TW on the plan for female sex offenders not male ones when in prison extends to giving them leniency & chances non-special men wouldn’t get.
