The text uses they/them, but in the quote, Grey uses I. Shouldn't it be we?

Nah, she ain't fucking royalty no matter how special she thinks she is.

IcakethereforeIam · 17/02/2024 23:23

One? Nah, too binary!

WarriorN · 18/02/2024 09:39

It's really sad as our JL was one of the very few places that had a dedicated breastfeeding room.

When I was a new mum and still a bit nervous bf in public, it was a really reassuring and felt very safe.

It's a war on women's rights.

@EdithStourton Flowers

This person is in a "war" against themselves. ("themself"? who knows)

These are the kind of people who’d be nuts enough to use crutches because themself identify as disabled, not because themself actually require crutches… anyway crutches or not, I feel for themself. Imagine having to go through trans non binary labour! It must be much worse than the ordinary kind. You know, the kind that ‘Grey’s’ mother - sorry, birthing parent - went through. And a million quid says they weren’t assigned Grey on the birth certificate.

‘Grey’ as in a name given to a type of alien?

BadSkiingMum · 18/02/2024 10:10

Not too keen on some of the remarks on this thread - I think it is a bit low to comment on their choice of clothing or suggest that they might not actually be disabled.

But, as the person in question has given birth, I am 100% sure they are an adult human female and that they have not changed sex.

I really hope that Grey does not look back on this article and have cause to regret it.

'Theyself'?

I think Grey’s comment on ‘escapism’ is very telling. She has created her own reality and in her world she has become more interesting because of it. She can ultimately say whatever nonsense she wants and organisations like JL will let her because she is now part of a vulnerable minority group. The problem is when ideology meets reality (as they say) and her words are written for everyone to see she sounds silly and it has opened her up to ridicule. JL have enabled this.

Sadly you often see trans men using crutches - I think testosterone damages their bone density sadly.

Yes. And I don't believe that this fact sinks into the minds of the women who then decide to take testosterone .

Yes that was my first thought.

I wonder if the trans/non-binary birth involved making sure the overworked and underpaid NHS staff who may not all have English as their first language adhered to pronouns at all times.

How can you be trans AND non binary? Doesn't trans rely on the binary??

Trans, non binary AND a birth parent. So unlucky lucky to have three things to be grumpy and easily offended about.

I think Grey would have a brighter outlook on life had they chosen a more cheerful colour name, Silver , Purple or Cinnamon maybe.

And the dinosaur dungarees are wonderful, I hope no one lets her in on the TERFY association.

viques · 20/02/2024 00:06

Speaking of names it’s a bit ironic that the Marvel character called Jean Grey Phoenix is seen as a very powerful female icon representing femininity, strength and motherhood.

Yes it does.

It also recongnises sex actually.

The only person who can be a trans woman is a man! 😂

As the Irish would say - feckin' eejits! (sp?)
