- Form or support a local GC group in your constituency ASP. Start meeting in person now. Go to hustings, do demos LOCALLY. Get publicity. Write/meet local press community groups, churches, mosques etc. Target all parties. Obviously question candidates individually if doorstopped, but to have an impact we need to do way more stuff in groups. Note this would parallel the successful local campaigns suffragettes did in general elections in the 1900s before getting the vote. Normal political campaigning was derailed by pesky women turning up demanding to have rights.
- Make sure that every CANDIDATE in your constituency goes on record over their support for or against women/gay rights. Ask difficult questions about prisons, sports, Cass report etc make them squirm. Then tell people what they said on mumsnet/twitter/websites.
Support gender crit groups and politicians inside political parties Labour/Lib Dem/Green Women's Declaration/Conservatives For Women who will be doing their bit. Labour Womens Dec are going to be vital in attempting to take down any TRA plans from the inside of Labour. Hopefully Ali Shahrar will win today which will make that easier.
- Vote/Campaign for candidates in your constituency who seem worth supporting. This could include pro-women parties like Alba, KJKs party, the SDP etc. Or vote/campaign for parties based on other issues like economy, crime etc. To be frank your personal vote is the least impactful part of this though.
What we need to do is to ensure women/gay rights are a part of this election, not as a Tory vs Labour issue, but as an issue for all parties. The whole Sunak/Starmer thing of the last few days is not helpful. If it turns into pure party political spectacle then it will become a way of avoiding difficult issues.
