Just in case you're ever the victim of a sexual assault. Wouldn't want to look unfuckable now would we..

Police officers mock body-worn video of semi-naked woman

Officers viewed footage showing woman’s groin without valid reason, but avoided misconduct hearings.

I’m not in any way surprised that an incident like this happened or that the student officer was pushed out for being decent. Some police officers may be fine, but largely I do believe you have to be at least somewhat complicit in the toxic culture to enjoy a long career. The officers involved are disgusting.

PronounssheRa · 31/01/2024 07:44

Oh, for fucks sake.

It really isn't one bad apple, is it.

BlackForestCake · 31/01/2024 07:52

We have forgotten what the one bad apple metaphor meant. It means all the apples in the barrel go bad if the bad one is not removed. Not that the rest of them are OK.

Froodwithatowel · 31/01/2024 07:56

They are really going to have to do something about the fundamental misogyny of the police. What it must be like to be a woman working in this mess I dread to think.

SinnerBoy · 31/01/2024 07:57

This is awful and shocking, but not surprising, in light of the many recent reports of similar behaviour by Policemen. The only light here is that "Faisal" has had the moral fibre to testify against the other men.

LabradorLady1 · 31/01/2024 08:04

Bloody hell, this is disgraceful. The officer who called them out should be reinstated and the others disciplined/ sacked for this sickening behaviour.

FrancescaContini · 31/01/2024 08:06

This was very upsetting to read. Absolutely sickening. Something beyond a violation that the footage was openly watched in a police station with police officers standing around commenting, but I don’t know what the word would be.

Faisal the student (pseudonym) is certainly not “mentally fit” to be a police officer in the way that the police force shows itself to be, because he has courage, integrity and empathy which some officers are clearly devoid of.

I hope the female victim takes this further.

Froodwithatowel · 31/01/2024 08:11

Another hint to any incoming government actually interested in improving this country:

Stop introducing new laws and policies and exciting new mission creep

Enforce the bloody laws and regulations already in place so they actually work. This shouldn't have been able to happen and the bloody sky should have fallen on those who did it.

Helleofabore · 31/01/2024 08:22

That was a tough read OP. I hope that woman gets the help and support she needs.

scaredofff · 31/01/2024 08:30

Agree with pp I also found it a tough and disturbing read

Having never been frightened of the police before a couple of years ago, the more things like this that come out I think I probably can't and shouldn't trust officers either. Just in case.
That's a terrible way to think, I know. But Zayna's story in 2020 really shocked me

There are more Wayne Couzens in the police force than there are Faisal's. That's wrong, so wrong
And you can't be surprised because look at what happens when you try to do the right thing

Absolutely shocking

Yes. Well done Faisal. They should bring him in to teach the other officers how to behave.

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2024 08:34

Huge sympathy to the woman involved. I hope she's got lots of support and help.

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 31/01/2024 09:11

As well as the video itself, there is the fact that the victim was arrested for assault when it turns out she was actually the victim of assault, and it took until the next day for them to work that out.

i was brought up to automatically respect and obey the police. Now? I’m afraid the rot from the bad apple has indeed contaminated the whole barrel, a long time ago. I feel rather stupid that it’s taken me so long to wake up to the fact.

SinnerBoy · 31/01/2024 09:13

FrancescaContini · Today 08:06

I hope the female victim takes this further.

She's doubly a victim, because she was assaulted, then arrested and then went through another bloody crime. It's telling that the Police won't release the names of the offenders, to protect them. They've been "sanctioned," whatever that means, prosecution should be the sanction.

Yesnosorryplease · 31/01/2024 09:22

I read this after watching the Corrupt Cops programme on Channel 4. It was absolutely appalling. The worst elements for me are that these people do not behave badly in secret, they are open with their abuse and get others do not stand up and step in. I can't imagine working in a profession where someone wouldn't step in to protect vulnerable people.

nightymoose · 31/01/2024 09:28

Awful, this kind of story must actively put women off coming forward to the police or calling for help in an emergency. In addition there is one decent police officer who saw how wrong it was and reported it and yet he was the one who lost his job! Fuck the police!

fedupandstuck · 31/01/2024 09:28

The officers that asked to see parts of her naked body having chosen to watch the video have surely committed a sex crime? It's not just appalling behaviour in their role, it's actually criminally deviant behaviour.

BlueRidgeMountains · 31/01/2024 09:34

Wolves in sheep clothing, it's a shame the police force seems to attract so many toxic men. I have very little faith and confidence, l know several women whose lives were made extremely difficult when they wanted to end the relationship, these men were violent controlling bullies, probably a lot worse than many they arrested.

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2024 09:37

So when is someone going to do something about the misogyny that seems to run through the Police?

WhateverTrevorrr · 31/01/2024 09:42

Not a damn thing will change. The rot runs too deep

newnamethanks · 31/01/2024 09:45

Its not surprising blueridge is it? Offer a violent bully a uniform, a taser, a pepper spray, a big stick and access to some of the most vulnerable people in the country, unable to defend themselves against an institution, and they will queue to join up, I dont know how thorough the psychological profiling is for applicants but obviously not thorough enough. Shocking yet not surprising.

HermioneWeasley · 31/01/2024 09:45

It’s horrendous and they seem to have got away with it. Hardly inspires confidence does it?
