A young straight couple explain their radical, "gender queering" sex life which involves the man putting on tights and "coming really fast" while the woman is "trans masculine" (she cut her hair short) and unable to orgasm because she's on anti-depressants.

What an inspiring story for us all.

I'm really laughing at the thought of me and DH going on at the guardian about our sex life like that! I mean who CARES?

I feel really sorry for both the parties in this couple, given what they've said about their backgrounds and what they were told/taught about sex and intimacy. Especially given what they imagine other heterosexual couples that don't claim a "queer" identity do in bed.

To be scrupulously fair to them, this is from a series of stories called "This is how we do it", so they have been invited to talk about their sex lives, as other people have.

That one's much worse, and more depressing.

As used in this context, the phrase “gender identity ideology” is actually nothing to do with gender, as in masculinity and femininity, and how this shapes our identities. Instead, it is used to imply that trans, transgender and gender non-conforming identities are a new fad, and that the longstanding social justice movement for trans rights is really a recent conspiracy of nefarious elites.

As if, eh? 🙄As always with such pieces, I feel like saying, exactly what extra 'trans rights' should be made available, in addition to those already given?

The only depressing thing about the article is the sexually repressed way these two adults were raised by conservative parents. Nothing they described was ‘queer’ unless you’re raised in the only have PIV sex dressed, in the dark, missionary style and only to conceive a baby- no pleasure allowed.

Man gets off on his weird fetish whilst woman endures the tedium to maintain the relationship. A tale as old as time. What is new or gender bending about this? The woman ejaculating quickly after performing her fetish whilst he fails to orgasm would be a more interesting a novel situation surely? How very boring.

Jacob and Kasey sound like they have far too much time on their hands and take themselves way too seriously. I can picture them both: no doubt each donning Snag tights and blue hair.

Doesn't every generation think they invented sex though? Maybe it is because no one wants to think of their parents grinding or doing oral (although, Jacob and Kasey, they did - they just didn't write about it in the guardian). They sound like an ordinary couple. I feel for her not being able to orgasm - hope they are working on that. Actually that might have been an interesting article "I find it hard to orgasm because I am on anti depressants and this is what we do to try to overcome that"

Wasn't going to indulge the Guardian on this one, but the comments here were intriguing.
I suppose the upside is that they seem to communicate and are trying to accommodate each other.
I'm sorry that Kasey has depression and the meds are having such an effect though and hope for her this resolves soon.
Then all may be well.
Or she gets a vibrator.
Or another partner.
