God, it's depressing, isn't it?

I no longer place much/any faith in UNWomen, but here are some of their stats:

'As of February 2021, only 18.2% of seats in parliament were held by women. In 2018, 5.2% of women aged 15-49 years reported that they had been subject to physical and/or sexual violence by a current or former intimate partner in the previous 12 months. Also, women and girls aged 15+ spend 25.4% of their time on unpaid care and domestic work, compared to 8.9% spent by men. Moreover, women of reproductive age (15-49 years) often face barriers with respect to their sexual and reproductive health and rights: in 2006, 21.5% of women had their need for family planning satisfied with modern methods. As of december 2020, only 50.8% of indicators needed to monitor the SDGs from a gender perspective were available, with gaps in key areas, in particular: key labour market indicators, such as the gender pay gap. In addition, many areas – such as gender and poverty, physical and sexual harassment, women’s access to assets (including land), and gender and the environment – lack comparable methodologies for reguar monitoring. Closing these gender data gaps is essential for achieving gender-related SDG commitments in Azerbaijan.'

Plus ca change 🙄
Just think what UN Women could achieve if they focused on ... women. They're a perpetual disappointment.

The article is not about the UN.
Its about the steering committee for COP

If COP conferences do not focus on women and the poor
they lose all validity

I know it's not about the UN. I was sharing info on Azerbaijan, which is hosting the COP summit - specifically women's rights in Azerbaijan. It's a shame, because this was the first Muslim country to give women the vote -at one time it was relatively progressive for women's rights.
