I subscribe to the New European and I've learned to like AC on all matters Brexit but he does his intellect a great disservice on his cowardly dismissal of this issue.

Yes, interesting that AC is a coward as he’s also a bully.
It was, I think, a World War I General who said “I’ve known plenty of bullies who weren’t cowards, but I’ve never known a coward who wasn’t a bully”.

They try and wrap their heads around all sorts of divisive and disagreeable subjects but on women’s rights they mumble and move on. At least take a stand. The fact they don’t dwell on it just testifies to how important they think the topic is.

I do still listen to TRIP - I also listen to Spiked and Triggernometry and Julie Bindel and the Newsagents podcasts - I try to keep a rounded outlook. And I listen to Blocked & Reported and Heterodorx and Meghan Daum for the US insights (I walk a lot to & from walk so listen then).

But I almost gave up on TRIP - not so much on their thoughtless TWAW/it's just bigotry stance, but their responses to a question in one of the Q&A epis when the answered a question about how they managed to do all that they did, and keep their families going.

They were completely disingenuous, talking about the sacrifices their wives made because of their (Campbell & Stewart's) careers. It made me very angry - Stewart has apparently become a millionaire through this podcast, and Campbell must already be one. Both on the backs of their wives' sactrifices, and I imagine an army of cleaners, nannies, secretaries & researchers,.

I just wish they'd come clean about their view (on which they have no need to disagree agreeably) that men's work, men's time, and men's ideas are far more important than women's.

The Two Matts id a quite enjoyable podcast, and I've heard both of them be quite terfy.

I believe this too. And I think they also believe, albeit subconsciously, that women's job is to make men happy at any expense to themselves. They constantly set women's rights, dignity and safety against men's unhappiness at not getting what they want - and there's only ever one winner there.

Policy makers are constantly trying to test boundaries to see what they can get away with.

Coe knew an 'inclusion' attitude wouldnt be challenged on this podcast, so used it as an opportunity to sound a different view to the one he spoke about previously.

If men with gender are just like women they should be included everywhere. It makes no sense to ban them from the elite category if they can compete at every other level. The only difference, of course, is the elite levels have more of an audience, and more people will see the mens gender on display.

If it’s on the telly people will say “that’s not right!”, so just keep it out of sight - no pushback except from those few witches who can’t be bullied into keeping their mouths shut and who cares about them eh? The hypocrisy is mind boggling really. Just explain to us again exactly WHY this is only an issue in elite sport Seb?

If I understand it correctly (and I hope I haven't) he seems to have thrown women's grass roots sport under the bus. Although no-one is saying tw shouldn't compete in grassroots sports, just in their sex class. I'm hoping that bit has been missed out, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't know where he thinks elite women's athletes are coming from, if they're discouraged from competing before they get to that level.

It's good he draws a line between trans and DSDs but he should clearly say CS is a male. Would some future CS be allowed to compete against women?

Women were only allowed to complete in Seb's event (1500m) in the Olympics from 1972. He must have have come across the pioneering women that pushed for greater representation during his career when all they had was low level events because they were shut out of the 'big' events. He should be hailing the women that spent years fight for equality in opportunity not elbowing them off the track.

I agree Utopia, it’s an excellent article which pulls no punches. I see the article says Coe is prime candidate to be the next president of the IOC. He shouldn’t be allowed to get away with this politically convenient (for him) fudge. Protect all women’s sports!

I don't think that this can be repeated enough:

Where does Coe imagine the journeys of female Olympians originate, if not at the grassroots? And how does he suppose this will be sustained if women, despairing at being used as pawns in certain males’ quest for affirmation as females, are shunted off their development path? The ring-fencing of women’s sport for women is anything but exclusionary. Anyone can still compete according to their sex or in an open category.

It occurred to me that Coe might be changing his messaging on protecting the women’s category precisely because he’s looking to be appointed/elected to head of IOC. Perhaps he’s decided his previous strictly sex-based stance would be a hindrance to his advancement?

And yes, I agree with you that he shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it so I hope The Telegraph, Times and Mail shame him for it.
