This should be good for peaking a few more people.

If only 20 out of 76,000 members are non-binary, that suggests he may be employing a little exaggeration when he says including them will affect 'a lot of clubs'.

NotYourCisterinAus · 13/12/2023 04:51

If the clubs are forced to "modify existing change-rooms, bathrooms and showers to “gender neutral spaces”" then quite a few more than 20 people will be affected.

Retrain your brain!

The old Jedi mind trick.
“These are not the droids males you’re looking for. You don’t need to see their credentials”

Tiny sports clubs with two tiny open plan changing rooms by the water and maybe a hall/bar with some beer cans and some crisps need to find funding for this? These activists never seem to Stump up the cash for what they want.

I am having trouble reading that link on my phone which is refusing to connect to archive.

I have found this in the daily mail though. Is this the same Notyourcis

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12853953/amp/Gender-diverse-guidelines-Surf-Life-Saving-Clubs.html

This seems to indicate that the document states people have access to change rooms based on gender not sex.

The member said the document appears to propose changes that could allow 'unaccompanied males unfettered access to female changing areas

And this is concerning too. From the image of the document.

Q. What if a gender diverse member wants to participate in and compete in Surf Life Saving?”

Children should be treated as their affirmed gender and be treated as any other child wishing to participatein junior activities both at nippers and in competition.

For adults competing in surf sports, the SLSA Surf Sports Manual policy on Transgender Transsexual Athlete Guideline is currently under review and will provide further clarity in this area once completed”

Obviously Surf Lifesaving has the sports aspect which is competitive and this will have negative impact on the many girls and women competing. No wonder the parents and members are outraged.

Controversial 'gender diverse' guidelines for Surf Life Saving Clubs

Controversial new guidelines for Australian Surf Life Saving Clubs which advocate for the rights of gender diverse people and call for more unisex toilets have raised eyebrows.

And ‘retrain your brain’ is absolutely activist speak in this instance and considering this is about people training to save lives, they shouldn’t be told to ignore the sex of the person they are administering first aid to. This is so contradictory to the objective of administering life saving first aid as a first responder.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say those 20 members will be increasing at a rate of, er, knots if these changes go ahead.

More dangerous misogyny.

NotYourCisterinAus · 13/12/2023 06:55

Yes, it's the same, Helleofabore.

It's particularly enraging when you realise that women were only granted full membership in Surf Lifesaving Australia in 1980!

I found this on the NSW site through Google but it is not linked up or easy to find on the pages of their site. It is not dated, but it seems to be the new fact sheet they are discussing.

https://www.surflifesaving.com.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2020/09/Diversity-and-Inclusion-Transgender-Factsheet.pdf

Here it is very clear that they allow anyone to use the toilet and changing room that they wish to.

What about the use of facilities like toilets and change rooms?

Like all of us, trans people should be able to use the toilets, change rooms and facilities where they feel most comfortable and those appropriate to their identified gender. Not allowing a trans person to do so is not only illegal, but would be very distressing for them, as it would be for anyone. While some trans people may choose to use the accessible toilets, it is inappropriate to request so, as it would be for anyone.

So, this is clearly telling clubs that it would be illegal to ask someone to use the space related to their sex.

Thanks no doubt to that change of the Anti discrimination act in 2013. Thanks Julia! Such a feminist move!

And this fact sheet pdf also refers to the Sports Australia directive which Kieran Perkins told the world was also based on that Act. Again, allowing males to compete as female people.

The '20 people' was specifically about non-binary, not all trans varieties, and about how to include them in binary competitions.

Obviously the changing rooms issue is much wider.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 13/12/2023 11:14

Interesting that changing rooms where women and girls have to be naked (ie swimming) are always a prominent target for transactivists. I recall Swim England was on the receiving end of the attentions of one Edward Lord and as a result, men in women's changing rooms became a policy decision.
Funny that.

MarieDeGournay · 13/12/2023 11:31

"While some trans people may choose to use the accessible toilets, it is inappropriate to request so, as it would be for anyone.”
A sudden and unexpected outbreak of fairness there, if they mean that it's inappropriate for anyone who isn't disabled to use spaces designated for disabled people.

Appropriating hard-won adapted/ 'disabled' toilets as an easy and cheap alternative for able-bodied trans identifying males seems to be acceptable to groups that are so exquisitely sensitive to their own 'rights'.
Disabled people just aren't discriminated against or marginalized as much as those poor downtrodden trans people, are we? So we should gallantly hand over our adapted toilets to make them feel comfortable, right? So wrong.
