Another HUGE win. Many will remember the shocking case at Princess Grace Hospital which cancelled a woman's life-saving operation' after she said she wanted single sex health care.

Teresa Steele has now managed to get them change their policy in all their facilities and to follow the Equality Act. She is going to go after all the other UK healthcare providers and NHS to do the same .

More details:

Private hospital group guarantees same sex care for patients
Pressure on NHS to follow suit after HCA promises patients will be looked after by staff members of same 'sex' rather than same 'gender'

Ms Steele is now working with a newly founded group called Caring About Dignity to support women who “like me have been victimised for asking for same sex care”.

Once again another powerful institution has been humbled by a woman taking a stand for her rights.

Hospital refuses to operate on sex attack victim after she requests all-female care because she fears mixed sex facilities are unsafe for women | Mumsnet

"The patient ...was told by London's Princess Grace Hospital it had to 'protect staff from unacceptable distress'." I can't believe how awful this is...

I don't know if you will see this, but just in case...
Thank you Teresa for fighting this, though I am sorry that you had to.You are an amazing and courageous woman and we are all in your debt. I hope you are recovering from your ordeal and have plenty of support.

Amazing. And I very much hope that Teresa's health has greatly improved - the last thing anyone needs when dealing with health issues is all of this shite on top of it.

Well done Theresa

Seconding PPs in applauding TS's achievement while deploring that it was ever necessary.

I would also like institutions that oppose this to reflect upon why and begin to consider whether they might need some restorative education to remind themselves that women are autonomous human adults with sex-based rights and concerns of our own.

What an amazing woman she is. Fantastic result and must have taken enormous strength to achieve whilst going through and recovering from major surgery.

I do hope that individual was subsequently disciplined.

You'll hope in vain for that.

Fantastic result, well done to her but no way should it have ever come to this, it's fucking appalling that it ever happened and that this brave woman had to fight so hard for basic respect and dignity.

All those pushing this ideology should hang their heads in shame, they should be the ones losing their jobs.

I also doubt there will be any disciplinary action taken, but I suspect there may well be a flounce. Many men do not react well when they don’t get their own way because a woman objected.

Ovaries of Steele. Amazing and so courageous.

I’m so heartened to read this, it was reading about Teresa Steele and her experience while in such a vulnerable position that made me see the dreadful consequences already happening because of misguided or even wilfully misleading EDI policy. Huge thanks Teresa.
